BHAVANS PEARL WISODM SCHOOL MONTHLY NEWSLETTER FINDING THE RIGHT INTELLIGENCE (PD Session- Multiple Intelligence) Multiple intelligence refers to a theory describing the different ways students learn and acquire information. These multiple intelligence range from the use of words, numbers, pictures and music, to the importance of social interactions, introspection, physical movement and being in tune with nature. Accordingly, an understanding of which type(s) of intelligence a student may possess can help teachers adjust learning styles and suggest certain career paths for learners. Gardner first outlined his theory in his 1983 book Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple In- telligence, where he suggested that all people have different kind of “intelligences”. Based on this theory, we teachers should know about the students’ intelligence and through that their understanding and learning process can be encouraged. Keeping this in mind Dr. K. T Nanda- kumar, Principal of BPWS conducted a session for all the teachers, about how it can be inte- grated with our lessons. The multiple intelligences has 8 different intelligences known as Linguistic, Logical and Math- ematical, Visual and Spatial, Musical, Body-Kina esthetic, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, Nat- uralistic Intelligences. Each intelligence was explained in detail and the activities conducted in the class based on the intelligence. The key words used in each intelligence and the smart word for each intelligence, its symbol were discussed in detail which helped the teachers when they prepare the lesson to integrate and to find out the activities related to that intelligence. The entire session was a good experience for all the teachers, presented with so many stories and class related examples which helped the teachers to relate their topics to each MI easily. The MI mentioned and the activities related to each MI will be added and integrated with the lesson preparation and done in the class. Report By Sooraj.K ISSUE : 01 APRIL 2021 PAGE 13
