“Though you wrote in black & white, you bought colour in my life. “ (Teachers’ day) Teachers’ day is one of the most memorable days in the life of a teacher and a student. It is celebrated all over India on 5th September to honour the teachers for their significant contribution in a child’s life. The kindergarten students of BPWS also made the day unforgettable. The little buds showcased their talents by dedicating a song, dance & a poem for their teachers. They made a beautiful teachers’ day card with full of creativi- ty & love. LEARINING—A Gift (Literacy day ) Literacy is one of the greatest gift a person could receive. Helping someone to read and write effectively or acquire the basic math skills so many of us take for granted, improves the future of everyone in society. Literacy is critical to economic development as well as individual and community well-being. Literacy day was celebrated to create awareness and promote the impor- tance of education in life. The students of Kindergarten were given an op- portunity to choose the books they like from the library and read as many as they would like. Onam Celebration Onam is an annual harvest festival in the state of Kerala in India. It falls on the 22nd nakshatra Thiruvonam in the Ma- layalam calendar month of Chingam. The 10 days celebra- tion was originated in Kerala to commemorate the golden rule of mythical King Mahabali, where people lived in peace and prosperity. These days are more filled with fun, laughter and games. On September 9th 2021, BPWS Kindergarten celebrat- ed Onam with much enthusiasm. Students wore traditional attires and the significance of onam was explained to them. The floral decoration (pookalam) was decorated by students that added to the joy of the occasion. It’s a BOND of NOK JHONK (Raksha Bandhan) Raksha Bandhan or “Rakhi” is a popular hindu tradition that celebrates the bond between broth- er and sister. Raksha Bandhan is a Sanskrit word which literally means “the tie or knot of protec- tion”. It is celebrated on Purnima or full moon day in the month of Shavan (popularly known as Saawan). This is a bond of love…., A bond of togetherness…… BPWS students of kindergarten celebrated this festival on 12th September 2021 by making beautiful rakhi’s and decorating them with colorful papers and beads. They also saw a video, presenting a story about the importance of Raksha Bandhan and why it is celebrated. Students wished each other and enjoyed the festival environment. LEARN First Aid—SAVE LIVES (World First Aid Day) World First Aid Day is observed on the second Saturday of September to spread awareness on first aid and how it can prevent injuries and save lives in a critical situation. This year, World First Aid Day was celebrated on September 11th, 2021 across the globe. BPWS -Kindergarten Department First Aid Day was conducted on 12th September, 2021.Students were edu- cated with the importance of first aid and names of the things needed in a first aid kit. The day when HAPPINESS becomes GRAND (Grandparents’ day) Grandparents are a family’s greatest treasure, the foundation of a loving legacy. Through their spe- cial love and care, grandparents keep a family closely knit. BPWS kindergarten celebrated Grandparents’ day on 12th September 2021. Not all Superheroes Wear Caps!!!! SOME TEACH (Teachers’ Day) In India, Teachers’ Day is celebrated annually on September 5th to mark the birthday of the country’s former Pres- ident, scholar, philosopher and Bharat Ratna awardee, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was born on this day in 1888. The Bhavans Pearl Wisdom School, Al Ain celebrated Teachers’ Day on 5th September 2021. A special assembly was conducted on this occasion by the students of grade 5 to 8, with various special programs. Kanishka Anbu of Grade 6 delivered a special speech about the importance of the day in each one’s life. Bhaumik Rathnani of Grade 5, created a PowerPoint Presentation on this special day, which was played during the assembly. Parineeta of grade 1C and Go- pika Gobu of grade 6 presented beautiful songs and entertained all. Few students were selected as teachers of the day, who handled various subjects during the day. The special assembly gave them an insight about the importance of the day, and the opportunity they got to be teach- ers on the day really made them proud. World Literacy day “Learning gives creativity, creativity leads to thinking, thinking provides knowledge, knowledge makes you great.” - A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Since 1967, International Literacy Day (ILD) celebrations have taken place annually around the world to remind the public of the importance of literacy as a matter of dignity and human rights, and to advance the literacy agenda towards a more literate and sustainable society. International Literacy Day (ILD) 2021 was celebrated under the theme “Literacy for a human-centered recovery: Narrowing the digital divide”. On the occasion of “International Literacy Day” BPWS, observed various activities in the classroom to give an insight on the fact that “Literacy is a human right and the basis of all knowledge. To mark this day, students of our school projected their viewpoint in the form of slogans in different language on literacy, giving emphasis on edu- cation as the foundation stone to build a more sustainable future for all. Through their slogans, they insisted on the need to educate more and more people so that the world can begin its journey towards a better tomorrow. Remembering the DAY we took the FIRST STEPS (Founder’s Day) Founder’s Day is a day celebrating the anniversary of the establishment of a society or organization, on which its founder is honored. In any organization, the celebration of the Founder’s Day is undoubtedly the most important in the calendar of annual events. The Bhavans Pearl Wisdom School, Al Ain celebrated its 3rd Founder’s Day in collab- oration with the Al Saad Indian School Al Ain, on Sunday, 11th September 2021. The function began by 9.30 am with the holy Quran recitation, followed by the UAE National Anthem, school prayer and Bhavans Anthem. The Head Girl of Al Saad Indian School de- livered the welcome address. Honorable Chairman of the Bhavans Middle East, the Vice Chairman and the Director also were present and addressed the gathering. Teachers who secured 100% attendance during the academic year 2020-21, were awarded certificates on the occasion. A virtual memento was awarded to the Chairman Sri. Ramachandran Menon during the function. Various cultural programs were arranged including dances, skit, songs etc. The program came to an end by 11.30 am with vote of thanks and the Indian National An- them. SAFETY first is SAFETY always!! (World First Aid Day ) Every year on the second Saturday of September, World First Aid Day is observed to promote awareness about how first aid can save several lives. It occurred on September 11th this year. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) believes that first aid should be available to everybody, especially the most vulnerable, and that it should be a component of a broader development strategy. The day is also observed to promote first aid training for all people and to increase awareness about the necessity of first aid in the event of an accident. First aid training gives more than just the information and abilities needed to respond successful- ly; it also provides the confidence to act when necessary. The Bhavans Pearl Wisdom School, Al Ain observed World First Aid Day on 12th September 2021. A special assembly was conducted on this occasion by the students of grade 3 to 8, with various special programs. A demo session was given by the school nurse Ms. Emy, on the topic ‘Importance of First Aid’. Kanishka Anbu of Grade 6 and Parvathy Nijesh of grade 3 delivered a special speech about the importance of first aid in saving one’s life. Chart making activity was conducted for the students of grade 1C on this special occasion. The special assembly gave them an insight into the importance of the day. OZONE- not just a LAYER but a PROTECTOR (World Ozone Day) Bhavans Pearl Wisdom School celebrated the World Ozone Day to spread awareness among the students about how crucial the ozone shield is for the life on Earth, its gradual depletion and the need to search for possible solutions to preserve it. The students took part in various activities, highlighting the need of the ozone layer protection. The students were advised to use environment-friendly cleaning products. They were also advised to discourage the use of private ve- hicles and use public transport, carpool. The students were informed about the stratospheric layer which shields the Earth from Sun’s ultraviolet rays. World Peace Day “Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.” – Albert Einstein Every year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21st September. The UN General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthen the ideas of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire. The 2021 theme for the International Day of Peace is “Recovering better for an equitable and sustainable world.” Let’s spread compassion, kindness and hope in the face of the pandemic. In BPWS, this day was observed across all grades. Students celebrated Peace Day by colouring doves - the symbol of peace and writing beautiful messages, preparing posters etc. Children expressed their views on the relevance of peace in the current world. No doubt, this day focuses on building a peaceful and sustainable world and by exposing students to this concept at an early age helps them shape into responsible Global Citi- zens. Do YOUR part CARE for your HEART (World Heart Day) World Heart Day which is celebrated on September 29th every year is the world’s biggest platform for rais- ing awareness about cardiovascular diseases, including heart disease and stroke among all ages. It’s about saying to ourselves and to, the people we care about and individuals all around the world, “what can I do right now to look after MY HEART… and YOUR HEART? On that note, World Heart Day was celebrated by BPWS. The importance of being in good health by leading a healthy and energetic life was reinforced. Children illustrated healthy food on cut out of hearts and also pledged to exercise daily to keep the heart healthy. They were also explained to be sensitive towards feeling of others and not break anyone’s heart with rude behavior and actions. Students prepared posters of World Heart Day and all the students did exercises in standing in Heart shaped posture and the exercises they did were beneficial for the heart.
