Our Shining Stars HUB ACTIVITIES March 30th, 2021 ‘’ Where learning is sharing ‘’ ‘Hub of Learning’is a group formed of five to six schools (as allotted by CBSE keeping in mind the vicinity of schools in preference) for the purpose of collaborative growth, promoting self-improvement and for ensuring enhancement of the quality of education. We our in a Hub group of schools where other school members are DAV Public School, Sterling School, Orchid International School, Ryan International School, Podar International School Powai. We indulge in working together as a team for the overall development of students with learning based activities and innovative academic sessions. Mahatma Gandhi Mission Primary and Secondary School (English Medium) organized Extempore Competition in English and Hindi languages and Drawing Competition for students from Class VI to VIII on 30th March,2020 to enhance the critical thinking and creativity among students. Memory Drawing and Painting We are pleased to share several prizes have been won by our school students: 1. Mst. Sukhraj Singh, Class VI secured First prize. 2. Ms. Nishtha Dubey, Class VII secured Second prize. 3. Mst. VighnantNakhwa, Class VIII secured Third prize in the Drawing Competition. All the competitions were organized virtually, where students from the above schools participated enthusiastically and whole heartedly and made this a memorable and fun loving event.
WORLD Earth Day April 22nd, 2021 ‘’ Our Planet has no alternate, please save it.’’ 22nd April 2021 marks the 51st anniversary of World Earth Day with the theme focusing on natural processes, emerging green technologies and innovative thinking that can restore the world’s ecosystems. It is an international event celebrated around the world to pledge the support for environmental protection. The slogan for 2021 was ‘’Go green, Go vegan, save the Planet’’. ‘’Everyday is earth day and everyday is a ray of hope’’. We celebrated Earth Day 2021 with great zeal and enthusiasm. ‘’Drawing Competitions ’’ and ‘’Slogan Writing Competitions ’’ were held via Zoom platform. Students actively participated in these activities as it inspires students to bring about a real change. It is also a great way to help them imagine the world they want to live in and take important steps to make Earth a better place for themselves and for our future generations.

World Book Day and English Language Day. April 23rd, 2021 ‘’ To share a story. ‘’ ‘’ With hard work, learning English, and getting involved, there is no limit on what you can achieve.’’ ‘’World Book Day’’ is celebrated to promote reading and love for books, publishing and copyright awareness. It’s also known as World Book and Copyright Day or International Day of the Book. It is an annual event organised by United Nation Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on 23rd April every year. ‘’English Language Day ‘’ at the UN is celebrated on 23rdApril, the date traditionally observed as both birth and death anniversary of William Shakespeare. The United Nations observes this day to celebrate multilingualism. It is a day to promote history and culture, create awareness, and celebrate the success of the largest speaking language in the world. Mahatma Gandhi Mission Primary and Secondary School (English Medium) celebrated World Book Day and English Language Day, stories with moral values were shared through zoom meeting for all the students. Students were encouraged to read a book as we all know that it has significant impact on Children’s well being and overall development.
HOLY MONTH OF RAMADAN April 30th, 2021 ‘’ Purify oneself by Prayers, Fasting and Charity.’’ Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar. Muslims refrain from eating, drinking from dawn until sunset. Ramadan was the month in which first verses of the Quran were said to be revealed to the Islamic Prophet Muhammad. Mahatma Gandhi Mission Primary and Secondary School (English Medium) celebrated ‘’Holy month of Ramadan” on 30th April 2021 by showing videos to students from Class I to X. Students came to know that fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam. Muslims eat one meal before dawn called ‘Suhoor’. At sunset, they break their fast with a small meal called ‘’Iftar’’. It is time to do charity. Muslims prepare themselves to attend extra prayers called ‘’Tarawih’’ every night. ‘’Laylat al-Qadr’’ occurs on the last days of Ramadan. The month ends with the feast of Eid-al-Fitr serving ‘ Sewaiyaa ‘ to family and friends. Some students made cards, hanging strings to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan.
World Environment Day June 5th, 2021 ‘’ Ecosystem Restoration’’ World Environment Day is celebrated annually on 5th June and is the United Nations principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment World Environment Day is a global platform for public outreach with participation from over 143 countries annually. Each year, the program has provided a theme and forum for business, non government, organization, communities government and celebrities to advocate environmental causes. Our students from Class I to X enthusiastically participated in various interesting activities. Students of Class I actively participated in seed germination drive and prepared beautiful pencil holder with waste paper cups. Students of made Class II attractive pretty dolls with old clothes. Students of Class III made creative photo frame with colourful chart paper. Students of Class VI made useful paper bags from old newspaper. Students of Class V made bags out of old T-shirt. Students of Class VI and VII made caption posters with vibrant colours based on theme – Reduce, Reuse, Refuse. Students of Class VIII made impactful and imaginative advertisement for recreated old items available at home. Students of Class IX and X made incredible and real time digital videos on ecological restoration. It was indeed a great celebration where all the activities made by our students, leaving an impact on their minds to save our environment and make this Earth a better place to live in.

International Yoga Day June 14th to 21st,2021 ‘’ Yoga for Well Being ’’ CBSE Director Advocates Yoga and Meditation for Behavioural Change: International Yoga Week celebrations were held from 14th to 21st June, 2021 by Mahatma Gandhi Mission Primary and Secondary School (English Medium) International Yoga Day is observed every year on 21st June. This year carries the theme \"Yoga for wellbeing\" at a time when society is still recovering from the impact of the Coronavirus Pandemic. Celebration of International Yoga Day is all about integrating body, mind and soul as Yoga is an ancient India tradition combining body agility with mental relaxation techniques. It was our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi who gave the proposal to observe 21st June as 'International Yoga Day. On the occasion of International Yoga day, our Principal Mrs. Sabita Dash welcomed our esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Biswajit Saha (Director of Training and Skill Education at the Central Board of Secondary Education). Dr.Saha inspired students and teachers to include Yoga in our daily life to develop a positive attitude towards it. He motivated students to adopt yoga for physical fitness and emphasised on adopting more of our Indian culture. He appreciated Principal, teachers and students for their efforts to celebrate Yoga week. Programme started with Mrs .Yogyata Mishra (Music Teacher) reciting ‘Saraswati Vandana’ and blowing of conch by Mrs. Stuti Sensarma ( Vice Principal) making our morning divine, the programme followed by the performance of our young students Ms Bhoomi Prajapati and Ms Khusboo Rathod based on Rhythmic Yoga. Mst Sarvesh Gharat and Mst Ashwani Singh demonstrated various Yoga asanas and the benefits of each and every asana was explained by Physical Education Teacher (PET) - Mr. Atul Shinde. Vote of thanks was given by Vice Principal Mr. Avinash Malunjkar. The program ended with singing of the National Anthem. On the first day of Yoga week, Mr. Atul Shinde explained the steps to be taken by students to clean their sensory organs and throw the toxins out from their body using simple yogic kriya. On second day and sixth day, Ms. KunjanPaul , Yoga expert demonstrated various yoga asanas to increase oxygen level, take care of eyesight, to boost immunity power and explained importance of proper diet for leading a healthy life .On third day, Mrs ReetaSoni, Yoga expert dwelled upon precautions to be taken while performing asanas. On fourth day, Ms. Nikita Singhal, Yoga expert performed asanas that will help students to increase their height and boost immunity power so that they can fight against coronavirus disease. On fifth day, Mr. Anand Wamanse, Yoga expert performed yogic techniques that will be beneficial for students to improve memory capacity with the help of short story telling method. On seventh day, Mr. Sreekonda Subramaniyam Sarma, Yoga expert demonstrated simple asanas like AnulomVilom, Bhramari, BaddhaKonasana etc. that will help in improving our health. All the students and teachers enthusiastically and energetically participated in this one-week programme and indeed made it a memorable event.
