ABOUT ME Coming from a middle-class family of self-made individuals, I catered to my instinct of creativity and pursued a degree in architecture from National College of Arts. It all started from drawing caricatures on the inside of my school desks. If was not the best in sciences I was the best in drawing and arts. My high school teacher recognized my ability as a strength and encouraged me to pursue my passion as a career. I am quite but very through and curious. I learn by doing things, from fixing a little machine to building a structural design I have done it all. Having worked for over a decade in commercial, residential and venturing in a small business of dairy, I started my own company, KAYA by Mustafa Naqvi. Ready to take the next leap, I want to pursue my master’s degree program, as I want to better understand and enhance my knowledge of building designs, structural integrity, architectural technology and interior designing a notch further. Having had some business experience, I also want to take some courses in management to round up my training experience in a more complete way. My goal is to start building commercial building s and also introduce concept of artificial intelligence in architecture, as it is very naïve concept in Pakistan. For me architecture is a living art and I strongly believe that the site always tells you what it wants to become. This portfolio reflects my style of approach to architecture amalgamated with pragmatism, embedded agendas and different cultures.6
Wasabi courtyardWASABIA Japanese modern cuisineDate of completion: oct-16This Japanese modern cuisine is designed with the idea ofgiving an ambience of a traditional Japanese culture in thelight of modernism. The natural color palette with subtle lighthelped gaining a warm and cozy ambiance. The minimalisticfigures of Japanese bows at the entrance, the famous oldpainting painted with black lead on bronze mirror and therecreation of “ cherry blossom in the moon light” helped a lotin bringing the magic of Japanese touch in the design. 7

WASABI PAN ASIAN:A Japanese modern cuisineDate of completion: may-18After establishing a theme template for wasabi anotherfranchise was much more challenging as a different look hadto be produced while keeping the same design concept ofWasabi. Keeping the design ideology in mind the elevationwas designed with the inspiration of chopsticks and thehangings from the ceiling were inspired from the silhouetteof Mount Fuji. The landscape paintings and the abstract artinstallation of Buddha and Hinomaru(red in Japanese flag)along with explosive ink painted walls gave a perfect blendof Japanese culture in modern era. 9

THE RAMEN HOUSECompleted in oct-17Being the first noodle house in Pakistan, designing a ramenhouse was challenging. The idea was to incorporate theramen culture in the interior. Thus, the noodle inspired artinstallation on the ceiling throughout the restaurant sittingarea gave the massive impact. The half-cut pot light fixtures;the bamboo chandelier and the cultural paintings along withother design elements gave a very unique ramen experiencein a cozy ambiance. 11

TAPAS FUSION BARDate of completion: feb-18This restaurant was designed to bring a Hispanic flavor fromthe history of tapas in the interior. In order to give that antiquelook a rustic paint texture was created on the walls with someSpanish ceramic tiles and woodwork. The art installation ofold bar wooden stools is definitely an eye catcher. 13

DAIRY CONSTRUCTIONDate of completion: feb-12A dairy farm for holstein Friesian in Pakistan with higherambient temperatures is not an easy task. The major taskto design this dairy farm was to build a shed within thelimited budget where 100 cows could be accommodated ina comfortable and appropriate environment with a futureexpansion of 300 cows. Thus, for the shed, an open steelstructure was designed and for the roof, cheap yet effectivelocal materials like straw, plastic sheets, mud and cementwere used to fulfill the purpose. The farm was designed on 10 acres (435600 sqft), whichincluded office and residential blocks, 3 silage bunkers andthe storerooms. 15

CHIC MAN CAVE: A RESIDENTIAL LIVING ROOM Date of completion: Oct-18 A man lounge with furniture pieces of brass and high gloss finishes dazzled the interior in a chic yet classy way. The abstract art installation of waves on the wall was the icing on the cake20

A WINDOW DISPLAY OF HUMA TAJ COUTURE Date of completion: june-18 The idea for the window display was extracted from the hummingbird that is a trademark of Huma Taj couture. The sculptures of hanging hummingbird and enlarged wall mounted Hollyhock flowers were made. This window is a moment captured where the outfit is displayed in between large Hollyhock flowers and tiny live size hummingbirds. Putting the two different proportions together within a space makes a very unusual and dramatic statement22

Sajjad Mustafa Dental Health Care: a landscape and interior project (work in progress) This is a landscape and interior project of a dental clinic. As The main Building is designed by another architect so the main design idea for the landscape was taken from his work and that was to play with different levels and carve out some informal spaces.24

ART INSTALLATIONS To give any design a unique and interesting look, the art installations are always encouraged as they completely transform the perception of space. Working with the speciallized labour as a team makes it possible to bring ideas and inspiration into a creative reality.26

Furthermore the site was also tranformed into an informal learning and interactive institute.28
The revival ofpak tea housePak tea house back in 1960’s was an informal place wherescholars and poets along with public sit together over a cupof tea. Now all is left is the prints of their memory. The designwas inspired by the idea to extract a design from the fact ofholding its memory. 29
3rd year civic center tharparkar This project was to design a civic center in tharparker by taking inspiration from its cultre. After visting the site the movement of ghagra (traditional dress of the local women) during the traditional dance was magical enough to get the inspiration30
