Meaning The term principle has been adopted from the Latin word principles, which means the beginning or the end of all things.
Generally the term is often used to mean any kind of general truth or guiding norm by which a process is carried on, as when we speak mathematical principles.
Principles: 1.know your learners ● Basic information ● Families, languages,cultures and educational background ● Engage them ● Deliver lessons more effectively
2.start where the child is ● Depending on the level of awareness ● Language as a system ● Carry and contextualise the target language ● Meaningful, involving, interesting
3.Encourage social interaction ● Interactive process ● Quality and quantity of social interaction ● Rate of development ● Capable peers
4.create conditions for language learning ● Classroom culture ● Feel comfortable ● Make decisions ● Physical environment,the materials,social integration
5.Design high quality language learners ● Meaningful lessons ● Develop learning strategies and critical thinking skills ● Learning objectives
6.Support negotiation of meaning and collaborative talk ● Meaning is neither constant nor fixed ● CLT,the use of authentic,real life tasks ● Exchange ideas and work together ● Scope for collaborative talk and negotiation of meaning
7.Help learners to become more independent and autonomous ● To become active participants ● It is important that activities are designed and sequenced ● Foster growing independence
