About the Event Down Syndrome (DS) is a naturally occurring genetic disorder known as Trisomy 21, wherein an individual inherits an extra chromosome due to anomalies in the chromosomal arrangement. It results in varying degrees of intellectual and physical disability and also associated medical conditions. It is present across the human population and has a prevalence ratio of nearly 800 births. Every year, March 21 is observed as World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) to celebrate the individual differences among persons with Down Syndrome, advocating their rights and creating global awareness.
