Sometimes when you have a problem, you need help. Most of the time, you just need a little help from a learning coach or trusted adult. Page 3
If you experience an emergency, you will need more help than a learning coach or trusted adult can give you. By calling for help, you can get the big help you need from emergency helpers. Page 4
When you need big help from an emergency helper, you should call 9-1-1. Page 5
When you call the emergency number, an emergency dispatcher will answer. The dispatcher will say, “9-1-1. Where is your emergency?” Page 6
The emergency dispatcher will ask you where you are and how to contact you. The dispatcher is there to help you. It is ok to give the dispatcher your address and phone number. Page 7
Police Officer Paramedic Firefighter Depending on what the emergency is, the dispatcher may send a police officer, paramedic, or firefighter to help. Page 8
It is important to talk to your learning coach or a trusted adult about what to do in an emergency so that you are prepared if an emergency happens to you. Page 9
