Bristol Port has a dedicated training centre, providing hands on training and support throughout the apprenticeship. There are four specialisms to choose from, leading to a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) and an exciting career, of which many of our apprentices have gone on to progress to leadership and managerial levels at the port. Port Operations Marine Age: 17 + Age: 17 + Level: Port Operations Level 2, NVQ and Level: NVQ Level 2 Technical Certificate Overview: Working on the Port’s workboats, Duration: 36 months dredging, lock gate keeping. Overview: Carrying out a wide range of tasks including handling cargo, passengers or marine IT craft. Operatives play a key role in ensuring businesses deliver on time and safely. Age: 17 + Level: City and Guilds Diploma level 2,3 and 4 Engineering Overview: Working on the Port’s IT system and network. Age: 16 + Level: BTEC Diploma in Engineering, NVQ Extended Diploma Duration: 36 months Overview: Working as a mechanical or electrical engineer, testing and repairing equipment, project management.
