How often would you look at the value of the investments? How far would the value of the investments have to fall to make you consider selling them? 20 DECEMBER 2021
RISK SCALE DESCRIPTIONS Below are some sample investment strategies which covers a spectrum of benchmarks from lower risk (1) to higher risk (5). We will incorporate your selection on the next page along with other pertinent information as concerns your suitability for a particular invest- ment strategy (attitude to risk, investment expertise and experience, tax, etc.) when determining the optimal investments at any time. (1) Long term preservation of assets. The high proportion of fixed interest assets suggests that volatility will be lower than a portfolio that has a higher allocation to equities, however the long-term returns could also be lower and even low risk investments can rise and fall in value. The portfolio is exposed to the long term impact of inflation. (4) Maximise the long-term growth of the portfolio. We expect a high level of volatility in such a portfolio with significant fluctuations in value, but over the long term it could achieve a high- er level of return. The greater proportion of higher risk assets (equities, property, commodities, alternative investments) in the portfo- lio should help to protect the value of the assets from inflation. At times the portfolio might include a higher level of exposure to small- er companies, emerging markets, illiquid investments and sub-investment grade fixed interest investments. (2) and (3) represent different points on the same spectrum and reflect a gradual increase in risk taken. (5) Equity This portfolio is invested in equities. We expect a high level of volatility in such a portfolio, with portfolios potentially subject to the full extent and frequency of stock market fluctuations. Over the long term equities have historically outperformed other asset classes, and being invested in equities should help to protect the value of assets from inflation. At times the portfolio might include a high level of exposure to smaller companies, emerging markets, and illiquid investments. RISK SCALE LONG TERM ASSET ALLOCATIONS The selected investment strategy on the next page deemed suitable provides a long term asset allocation in line with your stated invest- ment objectives. The actual asset allocation at any time and for an extended period of time may differ significantly from this long term asset allocation, reflecting the dynamic investment and market conditions. 21 DECEMBER 2021
INVESTMENT STRATEGY BENCHMARKS strategy benchmark The purpose of the selected benchmark is 1 FTSE UK Gilts All Stocks 70% / FTSE All Share 30% to provide a yardstick against which the performance of your portfolio may be 2 Wealth Management Association CONSERVATIVE measured. 3 Wealth Management Association INCOME Each benchmark provides a long term guideline for investment allocation but may vary from the sample strategies at any given point in time or over a period of time. 4 Wealth Management Association BALANCED 5 FTSE All Share bespoke strategy / benchmark FEE STRUCTURE The proposed fee structure is 1.0% per annum of assets under management, charged directly in arrears on a monthly basis. In cash terms, assuming the funds under management at the end of the first full calendar month is (for example) £1,000,000 then the fees will be £833.33 + VAT, calculated as follows; Assets under management x 1.0% / 12 or £1,000,000 x 0.6% = £10,000 / 12 = £833.33 + VAT. Cashflows during the period are assumed to all take place on the final day of the period. Annual fees are payable monthly, unless agreed otherwise. Other fees may be payable: third party fees, transaction costs etc. Treating customers fairly: We will always seek the best investment for our clients; where any financial inducements are offered to us for recommending certain products we will decline the inducement and, if unavoidable, pass these inducements directly to the client. We will not accept initial or trail or any other fee, commission or inducement as it would be in direct conflict with our clients. All of the charges and expenses relating to client assets will be fully disclosed on a semi-annual basis or as requested by the client. Not included in the management fee are third party fees (including stamp duty, stock market charges etc.) and fees contained in the investment vehicles used in the portfolio e.g. management fees in collective investments. 22 DECEMBER 2021
