MY START-UP IS AN «AIR INSTRUMENTS» BAND 3

HISTORY Born in the late 1990s as one of the about 20,000 music groups operating in the urban area of Detroit, the band ARIA did not have an easy start. The composers Mike A. and Emilia B., sup- ported by the talented instrumentalists Ewan C. and Sally D., toured the nightclubs under the name of Soul League and tried to earn their bread as a cover band, while continuing tirelessly to cultivate their dreams of success with their own songs. Meeting manager John E. turned the band's career around – in many ways. E. had the right contacts and invested means and good advice. Soon SONY Music showed interest in taking the band under contract. Unfortunately, E., who had huge debts to the local underworld, fleed with the band’s cash during the after-show party at SONY, stealing the truck with the whole equipment. It was a huge shock for the four artists: the record deal was still not finalized and they had no money to buy the equipment back. This seemed to be the end of their dreams. “After all, we can’t perform on air guitars“, said A. to the press. Curiously enough, it was this very phrase that triggered an amazing adventure. The crew manager Héctor F., an elec- tronics genius, recalled the principles behind the Theremin – the electronic instrument played contactless, with hand ges- tures only – and decided to refine this technology to apply it to different instruments. A few months later, thanks to the collaboration with the chore- ographer Angela G., ARIA was born – one of the most exciting bands of the century that will surprise you with a mix of exper- imental music, hypnotic dance performances and an impres- sive light show. 5

THE «ARIA CHALLENGE» A «SECRET INGREDIENT» FOR SOCIAL MEDIA When they release a new album, ARIA will call the fans for an Air Instrument Challenge. The fans can post on the band’s social media chan- nels videos of themselves «playing» on air instru- ments along one of the new tracks. The followers can vote for the most original performance. The winner will perform the chosen track with the band at the next ARIA live concert. 26
