Dr Sanjay Sinhal is a Neonatologistand Paediatrician in Adelaide.He has been a consultant at theNeonatal Intesive Care Unit atFlinders Medical Centre since 2009.He also consults at Flinders PrivateHospital and Ashford Hospital.
Dr Sinhal has more than a decade of experiencein paediatrics and neonatology from twocontinents.Dr Sinhal has a distinguished career highlightedby a number of awards and certificates ofdistinction. He has undertaken six years oftraining in Pediatrics and Neonatal Medicine atThe Royal Women’s Hospital & The RoyalChildren’s Hospital in Melbourne and at PrincessMargaret Hospital & King Edward MemorialHospital in Perth. During advanced training inneonatology, he won the Advanced TraineeResearch Award of the The Royal AustralasianCollege of Physicians in Victoria. He haspresented many research papers in national andinternational conferences and has publishedarticles in scientific medical journals.
Dr Sinhal completed his medicaltraining in Pune, one of the mostpopulous cities in the world. Hegraduated from India’s flagshipmedical institute B J MedicalCollege, which treats more than0.5 million outpatient visitsannually. He completed threeyears Residency in Pediatrics at amajor tertiary referral centre inthe region, the Sassoon GeneralHospitals in Pune, with Dux of yearaward in postgraduate clinicalexamination of MD Pediatrics. Atmedical school, he was awarded agold medal in Medicine at finalMBBS examination of theUniversity of Pune. He then joinedas a lecturer in Paediatrics at PuneUniversity and worked as aconsultant paediatrician atSassoon General Hospitals.

Flinders Medical Centre – Neonatal Intensive Care UnitThis is one of 2 NICUs in South Australia where extremely premature newbornswith birth weight as low as 400gm are treated. Various complex disorders ofpremature newborns are successfully managed at this NICU. Flinders Private Hospital – Newborn Nursery This is Level 2 newborn nursery where premature newborns babies > 34 weeks of gestational age are treated. Newborns requiring intensive care are transferred to a tertiary neonatal ICU. Ashford Hospital – Newborn NurseryThis is Level 2 newborn nursery where premature newborns >32 weeks ofgestational age are treated. Newborns requiring intensive care are transferred to atertiary neonatal ICU.
Developmental Milestones These developmental milestones are only a guide. There is a range of normal age when developmental milestones are achieved by normal children. Most children achieve some milestones earlier and other milestones later than the population-averages indicated below. Some infants skip a milestone and demonstrate the next milestone at appropriate age. Some children are slower in achieving some milestones but are normal as they catch up. Please check with your CYH nurse or doctor if in doubt.
