RECREATION ACTIVITIES AMONG STUDENTS UITM RAUB Norzalina Aniza Abdul Halim*, Nurul Natasha Mustapha, Maizatul Akhmar Jafridin, Nurul Aisya Zaifulizan, Maria Qibtiyah Mohamad Abstract: The definition of recreation activities is doing activities during leisure time. Recreation activities can be done everywhere and anytime. There are a lot of types of recreation activities that students can choose such as indoor activities and outdoor activities. In addition, there are many benefits of such activities whereby students can get through this activitiy such as improving their stamina. The objectives of the research are to determine the relationship between gender and their participation, to study the relationship between gender and purposes of students do the recreation activities and to identify the relationship between gender and the type of activities that they prefer to do. There are about 2616 students in UiTM Raub including extended students and 323 samples out of the total population have been selected. The results show that there are two objectives that have been included (tak faham) which are to determine the relationship between gender and the participation and the relationship between the types of activities and gender. By using Spearman’s Rank Correlation, it has been concluded that there is a significant relationship between the variables of both objectives and there is a significant relationship between gender. THE MOST FRESQTUUEDNENTLTYS EINNCUOITUMNRTAEUREBD DISEASES BY Nur Najwa Hanis Norhanuddin*, Aira Sabrina Bukhari, Wan Nur Izzati Azhar Abstract : A disease is a disorder of structure or function in a human body that produces specific symptoms that affect specific location. This research is carried out to know the most frequently encountered diseases by students in UiTM Raub. The purpose of this research is to identify the most frequently diseases that UiTM Raub students encounter, to identify the most frequent prescriptions given by the doctor to the students and to study the relationship between gender factor and students’health. For this research, secondary data was used from December 2015 until January 2017 and the population of the study is all students of UiTM Raub who went to Hospital Raub. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the most frequent diseases that UiTM Raub students encounter is fever. Besides, the most prescriptions given by the doctor to the students is paracetamol. There is a weak positive relationship between gender factor and students’health. Therefore, the findings gathered from this study will be presented to Unit Kesihatan” UiTM Raub in order to take actions on this matter, so that there is no need for the students to go to the hospital to get their medicine. Salman Abdull Malik, Azni Sharlina Zakaria ABSTRACT: Study behavior is one of the main factors to achieve success in academic performance. The words of study behavior don't only mean the techniques of the study, but it also has another meaning which is the amount of time spent in study. This research is aimed at identifying the impact on academic performance based on students’study behavior such as self-study, group discussion and time management among student. There are four objectives that have been developed between the dependent variable and independent variables. The objectives are to identify the relationship between student’s academic performance in terms of study behaviors which is self-study, group discussion and time management and also to identify the relationship between self-study and group discussion. The study includes students from 5 different courses of UiTM Campus of Raub. The data were collected from the target population by distributing the questionnaires to the student during the period of time given. The Spearman’s Rank Correlation and Chi-Square Test of Independent were used to determine the relationship between the variables. The result of this study showed that there is a significant relationship between student performance and self-study, group discussion, time management and between self-study and group discussion. No doubt that the internet has become a powerful tool for communication purposes, to exchange ideas, and even used in participation in local, national and international networking. The internet plan is a one way that mobile device users can gain wireless access to the internet and it will give you on-the-go access to the information you need. This research is carried out to find out the influence of gender in the usage of internet plan among UiTM Raub students. The objectives of this study are to identify the purpose of the internet plan towards UiTM Raub students. Next, to find the average expenditure spent by the students on their internet plan and to know the influence of gender towards the usage of the internet plan monthly. In this research, stratified sampling technique was used and the data collection method is direct questionnaire. 335 respondents out of 2616 students that being from five different courses in University Technology MARA Raub Campus participated in this study, that are Diploma in Statistics, Diploma in Computer Science, Diploma in Banking Studies, Diploma in Business Studies and Diploma in Public Administration. Hence, based on Spearman’s Rank Correlation, we can conclude that there is a significant linear relationship between gender and usage of the internet plan monthly. Today, most people have social media on their smartphones, tablets or any electronic devices. It is a common thing for students to use social media as an educational tool to enhance their learning and academics through social media. The major purpose of social media as a tool of education is to raise interactions and to make connections with students and lecturers.The sampling technique used in this study was stratified sampling. Researchers take 350 samples of male and female students from 2616 students in UiTM Raub.They come from various courses which are AM 110, BM 111, BM 119, CS 110 and CS 111. The range of age of the respondents is between 18 to 23 years old. This study is to determine whether the social media networking are the biggest and the most comfortable communication zone, teaching and learning at present, platform on interaction, communication and performances in education.The demographic changes in UiTM Raub has also been influenced by using the WhatsApp as main social media in education. WhatsApp has the highest percentage than other types of social media with a total of 98.29% of students who are using it for their educational purposes. Followed by Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and WeChat with the percentages of 85.14%, 76%, 64.29%, 62.29%, 50.57% respectively.Using the Spearmans’ rho of the variable the result is significant. Thus, making it possible for the researcher to draw important information to the most useful social media among UiTM Raub students in education. Keywords: education, social media, students.
ADDICTION OF SOCIAL MEDIA AMONG TEENAGERS Aiman Shahira Azizul Rahman*, Che Mazhamira Che Mansor, Nur Hidayahtul Fariqkhah Roslan, Nurul Shahiera Ahmadi, Intan Nur Syazwina Shamsul Nidzar Abstract. The rise of the internet and the advancement in technology have given rise to various new modes of communication, in which the most recent being social networking sites. Since the inception of social networking sites, countless communication gains have been received by teenagers, this is because teenagers prefer to express their feelings on social networking sites compared to remain in contact peers, friends and families. However, this new platform of communication has raised a concern of overexposure of personal information among its users in the society. National newspapers have reported dangers of such actions but many users remain impassive and continue to provide ongoing personal information on social networking sites. Furthermore, teenagers who are addicted to social networking sites will spend most of their time with their gadget without noticing the present of people in surrounding. The researchers interviewed 340 social networking site users out of 2616 students in UiTM Raub. This attempt is to provide an understanding as to why teenagers overexpose themselves over social networking sites despite being aware of potential undesirable consequences and offer some possible recommendations to remedy the situation. The conclusion that can be derived is that students aged 18 years old and below and 19-20 years old used social media for more than 120 minutes a day. Moreover, 27% respondents are male students. This means, that female students have the highest respond rate which is 73% overall. Next, 41% of the respondents feel neutral about expressing their selves on social media compared to the respondent who are strongly agree that they love expressing their selves on social media which only 4% of the respondent. Lastly, only 18% of the respondent said that they are addicted by social media while 33% of the respondents feel they are neutral in addicted to social media. They have to extend their semester to complete their studies and become an undergraduate. The government had to spent more than yearly budget to support the students’welfare. This problem leads to increasment of cost for the goverment although they paid the fees. This study was conducted to identify the factors that contributed to students’ failure in UiTM Raub. Data used in this study was obtained from Department of Student Welfare. The sample size for this study is 340 students, consisting various types of faculty which are Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Faculty Administrative and Political Science and Faculty Business Management. There are few students who repeated a semester or paper due to some specific reasons. There are factors of these students had to repeat a semester or paper which is lack of preparation for examination 52.6%, lectures’method is not efficiency 52.6%, too much club or associations’activities to attend 52.6%, financial and friend matters 52.6%, and bad environment 52.6%. All of these factors more or less effect their study. Most of the students who repeating, they are not aware of the factors that had affect them to repeat a semester or paper. PERCEPTIOANMOTONWGASTRUDDS ETNRATNINSPUOIRTTMARTAIOUNB SERVICES Muhammad Ridwan Sumiri*, Nur Hanim Azhar, Muhammad Hazazi Abdul Hanim, Raja Azizul Fitri Raja Azran and Nur Izzati Mohd Arif Abstract: The objective of this study is to determine the perception towards transportation services among the students in UiTM Raub. Many previous researches were carried out related to this study in order to achieve final answer for this problem. To solve the problem, a study was conducted by the researcher to check the variables that affect students’ perception towards transportation services in UiTM Raub among them. The research briefly describe about summary of the relationship between perception towards transportation services of the students in UiTM Raub and the knowledge, satisfaction and consideration of price of respondent. The first part is reviewing the relationship between the respondents’ program and the percentage of the highest participation on transportation services. Based on the result analysis of this study shows that transportation service has a significantly different number between programs. The highest participation is among CS111 students with 37.94% and the lowest is BM119 with 8.82%. Next is to summarize whether there is an association between participation on transportation services among the respondents and the knowledge, the satisfaction and the price. 65.9% of students know how much transportation provided in UiTM Raub. This showed that most of the students know about transportation services provided. Other than that, 8% of the students disagree about their satisfaction about the transportation services, 42% are agree. Mostly, they are satisfied with the transportation services. Lastly, 23.8% agree with the price but 31.2% are disagree. It shows that the price charged are not affordable. Keywords: students’ perception, transportation services, UiTM Raub
DIET OF UITMONRAFUOBO’SDSTINUDMEENDTASNINSESLEEMREASTER 2 BASED Muhammad Khaleed Firdaus Bin Mohamed Fadzil*, Nu’aim Mubaarak Bin Abd Rahman, Wan Nur Izreen Binti Wan Izanni, Nur Khairunnisa Binti Khairani and Nur Illiyana Binti Mohd Yatim Abstract: After the transition from secondary school to university, when independency increases, students are continuously challenged to make healthy food choices. In this situation, their nutritional status can be impacted since one cannot tell if they are consuming healthy food and having a well-balanced diet. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate UiTM Raub students’ meal pattern towards their food choice whether they are having a good diet or not. The study used a cross-sectional study design targeting semester 2 students residing within university hostels with a sample size of 240 students using simple random sampling procedure from a total of 635 students in semester 2. Data used in this study was obtained from handing out direct questionnaires to the students in UiTM Raub. The results shows that 68.8% of students indicated that they took two meals per day. A majority of 84.2% of the students usually consume chicken, that only contain protein, and most students rarely consume vegetables. More than half of the students indicated that they did not get enough nutrition based on their meal. On taste preferences, there are only about 13.4% students that were satisfied with the menu in UiTM’s Medan Selera. With a total of 52.8% students think that the price of the food in UiTM is unsatisfying. Also, 48.8% and 42.9% think that the prices do not suit well with the quality and quantity of food respectively. The investigation on UiTM Raub student’s meal pattern towards their food choice whether they are having a good diet or not is important as it can be used in designing and initiating a balanced diet awareness programs to enlighten other students and entire community on having a well-balanced diet, or meal patterns can influence their nutrition status. Academic performance has always been the main concern for university students. Therefore, the objective of this research are to investigate the relationship between study behavior and result performance and how students’time management affecting their Cumulative Grade Point Average’s (CGPA) result. In this research, the population of students in Diploma of Statistics from University Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Cawangan Pahang Kampus Raub is 365 students. Specific questionnaire was designed and distributed among 191 randomly selected samples to measure the significance relationship between those factors with CGPA. The results of the study reveals that there is no significant associated between study behavior, study environment and time management towards CGPA. In sequence to investigating the relationship between study behavior and CGPA, chi-squared test was conducted. It is shown that there is no significance relationship between these two variable since p-value is greater than 0.05 which is 0.525. Next, Pearson Correlation test shows that there is no significance relationship between students’time management with CGPA. The result proved the hypothesis by showing the p-value of 0.064 that is greater than 0.05. It is been hypothesized a weak positive correlation between time management and CGPA. Since the Pearson Correlation value is 0.134 and it is not significance so the data does not support the hypothesis. The results also indicate that there is a weak negative relationship between study environment and CGPA. Since the Pearsons’ value were -0.044, the changes in study environment are weakly correlated with changes in CGPA. As a conclusion, study behavior, time management and study environment are the factors that gives less impact towards CGPA. THE FASHIOSTNUODFEHNITJAS BOPFRUEIFTEMRERNACUEBBY FEMALE Syazana Soaib*, Ammelia Nadia Azman, Batrisyia Amira Mawardy, Yusra Insyirah Ibrahim Abstract: Fashion plays a very important role in everyones’ life, especially for women and it is formed through the combination of different fashion-related items. Therefore, this research aims to study the hijab preferences and perceptions among students in UiTM Raub. This study has three objectives, which are to study the relationship between wearing branded hijab and the current trend, hijab inspiration and the appearance of the students, and the expenses and the frequencies to buy hijab. In order to achieve the research objectives, data were collected from 310 female students from five different courses in UiTM Raub. The results shows that 77.4% of the respondents prefer to wear bawal hijab, 42.6% of the respondents have no preferences to wear branded or non-branded hijab and 31% of the respondents has agree that the current trend does affect their appearance. In addition, 40.3% has agree that they are influenced by their family and friends to wear hijab. They are also often match their hijab with daily outfit. Furthermore, 51.6% of the respondents has spent below than RM50 for their hijab and 51.3% buy two to four pieces of hijab for the past six months. Alas, there is limitation in this study where the research findings of this study should not be generalized to other population due to the small sample size. Excessive taking of fast food can result obesity. A cross-sectional study has been carried out from December 2016 to February 2017 among students in UiTM Raub. The aim of the present study was to examine the most popular fast food brands among students, consumption pattern, students awareness about the effect of fast food and relationship between fast food consumption and weight status among the students. The results revealed that 34% respondents agree that branding affect the chosen fast food and the most popular fast food that has been chosen by students is KFC with 36.3% , McDonald 31.7% , Maggie 11.7% and followed by others brands (Pizza Hut 10.3% and Dominos 10%). Approximately 55% of the respondents mentioned that they consumed fast food one to two times a week. About 38.6% agree that they aware about the effect of fast food. For about 58% of UiTM Raub students have a normal Body Mass Index (BMI) where the scale is between 18.5 to 24.9 and there is about 5% are under obese category in BMI scale. Therefore, we can conclude that fast food consumption among students in UiTM Raub still under control and their level of awareness about the effect of fast food is high. SPENDING BEHAVIOR A2M0O16N-2G01S7TUDENT OF UITM RAUB Adlin Lina Bt Mohd Azizi*, Afifah Bt Allias, Sharmiazuwa Bt Abd Razak, Siti Aishah Bt Nordin, Siti Rohani Bt Shamsudin Abstract: This research was done to determine the spending behavior of students in UiTM Raub. The research was conducted by distributing questionnaire to 335 respondents from different faculties in UiTM Raub. The main purpose of this study is to observe the spending behavior and financial awareness among students at UiTM Raub. This study also investigated the average monthly expenditure of students and spending behavior of student toward their gender. The result showed that, 46.3 percent of male students willing to spend their money on book for their study. While 38.2 percent of female student tend to spend their money on fanciers fast-food. Based on the financial awareness questions, 48.7 percent of female students preferred to compare price between stored before bought a product. While 35.3 percent of male student preferred to do a part time job during semester break. The range of money that was spent monthly for both male and female student UiTM Raub is in between RM200 until RM300 with 36.8 percent and 38.2 percent respectively.
