Cross-Cultural Interview

Interviewee’s background My name is Han Lu.I come from China. I have been in Thailand about 4 years now.Now, I’m studying in Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University under the Royal Patronage (VRU) in English major.

Q : How do you feel about living and studying in Thailand for many years?A : For living and studying Thailand I think I really interestedin that I’m study in Thailand make me have many Thai friendslet me get Thai and also living in Thailand let me know moreabout to Thailand too.

Q : What is your favorite Thai culture? A : My favorite Thai culture is Songkran festival. I think it really and amazing festival.Q : In your country, what is the most popular festival? A : In my country, the most popular festival is Spring festival, It is very important for Chinese. Spring festival is very important in Chinese. It's New Year in china. It also has the same meaning with Songkran in Thailand.

Q : How do you think that Thai cultures are similar or different from cultures in your country?A : I’m not really feeling Thai culture and Chinese culture hasmany different but, there are a little bit different betweenboth countries culture. First about the time, I think to be latein China is a big deal but in Thailand not, Second I have towear uniform every day in school in Thailand but china no.

Q : What Thai cultures do you like and dislike? A : I think Thai culture is ok so there is not any culture that I dislike.

Q : Do you think cultural difference affect communication? And how?A : I think culture different effect communication and nowalso because the culture different is very important for eachpeople and everyone well, have different to think or thinkingso, that has a little bit effect.

Q : Do you have any problem in communication with your friends in the class? How about your advisor?A : For me, I think I have no any problem with myfriends in the class. I think no problem with myadviser. She takes care me everything and helps meeverything that she can.

Q : Do you have any problem in your daily life , when yougo to shopping, buying something or something like this? A : Yes, of course. There are many problems in my daily life at the first period that I live in Thailand. In study I have Thai major can't follow my teacher well. For my daily life I think it's ok. Now, I can do almost everything by myself.

Q : How can you adjust yourself to Thai culture? A : For how can I adjust myself to Thai culture. I thought my best to get along way many Thai friends and study Thai language and to joy the Thai activities.

Analysis and reflection from the interview The information from my interviewee, There are a little bitproblem in communicating with people from different culturalbackground such as• The first time in Thailand. She can’t speak Thai and she can’t understand that they speak. So she can solve this problem by get along way with manyfriends, try to learn Thai language and to joy about Thai activity.Now she can speak and understand in Thai language. She can doeverything by herself.

Analysis and reflection from the interview From the interview, I couldn’t agree more from thisinformation because if I have to study aboard or travel to the othercountry that they don’t speak my mother language I will learnfrom their cultural, learn to speak their language, learn to do theiractivity to be familiar with that.
