Career Education Career education is an integral part of providing information, advice, and guidance in a progressive manner to our secondary students. They can then translate these into effective and appropriate career decisions. Talk on career opportunities in Germany was organized in Dunes International School highlighting the benefits of studying in Germany at gradua- tion level, medium of instruction, available unique applied courses with regular upgrades and various financial aspects. 1

Fire drills are an important safety practice, and legal requirement, within any commercial property, and educational facilities. However, when these environments contain young children, greater attention and care will need to be given to the process and its efficiency. To make the students aware of the procedures to be followed in case of a fire, a fire evacuation drill was practiced in the school. 2

Bullying exists in many forms, including physical aggression, name-calling and spreading rumours. Preventing and stopping bullying involves a commitment to creating a safe environment where chil- dren can thrive, socially and academically, without being afraid. There are prevention programs and school-based interventions to address bullying behaviours. School has organized a week long activi- ties such as Awareness sessions, helping hands activity, poster making, slogan writing, ant bullying parade, Songs on anti-bullying, street play on ‘No Bullying’ to observe “Anti Bullying Week” in the school. A display of signed hand prints was created as a visual reminder of students' pledge to take a stand against bullying. 3

Each week, a child is chosen in the class to receive the 'Star of the Week' award. This award is been given to motivate the students be- ing a good role model, considerate to others, polite, hardworking and helpful to their peers. It is also been awarded for overcoming difficul- ties, or simply showing improvement in learning or behavior. Whatev- er the reason, children are always very proud to receive their star. Congrats for all the stars!!! 6

Mascot is a unique way of rewarding the stu- dents in Dunes, they get to spend one whole week with the Mascot. This whole week they are responsible for taking care of the Mascot and its needs, they usually treat Mascot as their best friend and treat him as equal. This makes the students responsible and more car- ing towards others. It’s a pride for them to take home mascot. 8

English Students need verbal affirmation. Positive reinforcement contributes to self-esteem. It boosts character development. It is a good way to teach students to make good choices. 10

Reinforcement is the most effective strategy used to make the students remember what they have been taught for a longer time. Reinforcement of the por- tions for Periodic Test 2 was carried out intensively through use of ICT note- books and other interactive activities which helped stu- dents to check their abilities by themselves 11

Arabic Students in their early age are able to grasp more languages, that is the reason Arabic language is started right from Kindergarten to inculcate speak- ing, reading and writing skills. 13

Swimming Swimming builds endurance, muscle strength and cardio vascular fitness, it also helps in healthy weight, heart and lungs, Students are now learning the leg tapping techniques using kick board. 14

LIbrary Library plays a very healthy role throughout our life. Library provides a very calm and disciplined atmosphere which helps students to maintain a good concentration on their studies Libraries give people the opportunity to explore , research, experience new ideas, get lost in wonderful stories 15

Physical education in school is essential for the development of motor skills and the enhancement of reflexes. Hand-eye coordination is improved, as well as body movements, which helps in the development of a correct body pos- ture. Physical education teaches stu- dents the importance of physical health 16

Mud kitchens encourage children to talk about what they're doing, and often the excitement of being outside and involved in messy play gets young learners feeling even more confident about speaking and sharing their thoughts. Activities such as Role play, pretend play, and cooking activities with recipes are often conducted in mud kitchen. 17

Martyr’s Day Martyr's Day or Commemoration Day is a time to honour and remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for the UAE. Commemoration Day recognizes the sacrifices and dedication of Emirati martyrs, who have given their lives in the UAE and abroad in the field of civil, military and humanitarian service. Every year, it is being observed on November 29 across the UAE. Dunites expressed their great respect to the UAE soldiers by hosting the UAE flag with the national anthem. 18

UAE National Day Celebrations The UAE National Day is observed every year to remind us of the greatest story of building a state by the country’s founding fathers. This day, 48 years ago, the UAE flag of pride and honour first flew on the mast of the Union House in Dubai. De- cember 2nd has become an engraved date in the memory of every one living in UAE. It was the starting point where our leadership and people determined to established a modern state. Under the Union, the UAE has achieved considerable academic, economic, urban and agricultural progress, which has answered the needs of the country’s present and future. The UAE to- day enjoys stability and prosperity at all levels Special assembly was conducted by KG students fol- lowed by sharing of snacks among friends. 19

Year of Tolerance There are seven main pillars of this year’s theme of tolerance. The UAE government aims to deepen the values of tolerance among its people through a specific focus on fostering: Tolerance in the community, by encouraging greater acceptance among family members and creating a safe environment for differ- ent cultures to dwell together in harmony. Tolerance in education through cultivating the important values of tolerance into young minds by incorporating them in the curricu- lum. Tolerance at workplaces via educational pro- grammes that instil the values of cohesive, safe and tolerant workplaces across the country. Tolerance in culture by celebrating this 200- nationalities strong multicultural land with programmes, events and promoted art to build stronger communities. Tolerance in legislation through policy devel- opment aimed at enhancing the sustainabil- ity of mutual dialogue, tolerance and multi- culturalism. What Next…..  PT2 Examination start from 8th December 2019  Christmas Celebration on 12th December 2019. Stu- dents can come in casuals preferably red and white.  Winter Break Starts on 12th December 2019 and School reopens on 5th January 2020. 20
