Dragon's Feed · November 13 FEATURE A little walk through a marathon November 17, 2022 AIRAH TAN “Just keep going. Don't put too much thought into what you're doing. Then one day, you'll realize you've grown dramatically.” Suga of BTS said, despite the encouraging aphorism I, however, would like to express the hardship the House Executive Parliament had to endure during the time of the United Nations celebration. When time feels like an unchanging and boring concept, school events give students a chance to take a break from the never-ending school works and cherish their youth with fun memories. Extracurricular activities are an essential need to a student’s development; it gives them a chance to socialize, unite, and participate in various activities, and it offers an opportunity to learn while applying entertainment at the same time. It was the long-awaited celebration and the first-ever offline event after almost three years of pandemic lockdown, everyone was thrilled for the day to come, the wait was nerve- wracking, but the day of the program felt like a cold sweep of wind. The House Executive Parliament, also known as The Vanguards, accomplished the task despite the lack of time given to prepare. However, to keep the ball rolling, you have to set a goal, a starting place, and most importantly, a ball. The preparation of the event was not spoon-fed, the absence of funds caused a major delay in the preparation time, take note that they only had less than three days to prepare for decorations, presentations, and to buy materials. Everyone was tense. As the event took place a sudden shortfall of members occurred, and the flow of the program got mixed up. It was an unforeseen blow. Everything was all sudden, everyone was pushed to the starting point, the gun went off and everyone was startled–they started to run unconsciously as the insufficient time served as a heavy tire pulling them back. No matter how big of a step they ran–all they could only take were baby steps, they had no time to think, and all they did was run.

Dragon's Feed · November 14 FEATURE When they reached the finish line they looked back and much to everyone’s dismay, what stood before them were the smithereens of their work, a frown etched on their faces, however, a thought danced around their head. Every step they took was an accomplishment to where they were now, every sweat that dropped on the tracks was evidence of their hardship, and the finish line served as their success. They wouldn’t be where they are now without those baby steps. They had so much to learn, and running wasn’t one of them, but the growth of their steps, that no matter how heavy the tire behind their back was, they still chose to run, the willingness to give the effort even when everything turned upside down. Organizing the program has been hectic, however, it set goals for many students to push them through dull and heavy days. We are a team with multiple hurdles standing before us. But there are no hurdles that can’t be leapt, jumped, or even pushed by unity.

Dragon's Feed · November 15 FEATURE To fall asleep from reality AIRAH TAN November 21, 2022 Why do people enjoy reading books when watching films seem easier and more enjoyable? Reading books feel boring, having too many words, it makes you feel sleepy. The absence of reading leads to a lack of reading comprehension. Reading comprehension adds meaning to what is read and makes reading more entertaining, enjoyable, and educational. So you say, if reading makes them sleepy then why do people enjoy reading? People have different preferences, some people read because it widens their knowledge and their perspective. Some people just like exploring, because they just choose to. Some prefer reading because they feel more connected with the characters. The need to feel the author’s message, feelings, and empathy. They need to understand other people’s feelings because they lack for themselves. To breathe in the author’s story because they are drowning in their own. Let’s say Mr. Bunbun is feeling sleepy while reading a book, he feels exhausted from seeing the book contain too many words and it just brings him back to his school days. However, Mr. Bunbun has not realized that he drifted off to sleep and woke up in a different dimension. He loves the world that he entered, and he fell in love with the characters and the setting. Mr. Bunbun had his dark cloud twisted into his seventh heaven. Finally, he reached the end of his dimension and closed the book with a sigh. It was the greatest escape from reality.
