ASSOCIATION OF CIVIL ENGINEERING STUDENTS REINF 21: F O R T I F Y I N G T H E FUTURE

CAPTURE As part of REINFORCE 2021: Civil Engineering Month Celebration with the theme “Fortifying the Future”, PICE/ACES BatStateU will conduct a Photo Contest entitled CAPTURE. 1. This competition is to be participated by bona fide BS Civil Engineering students of Batangas State University. 2. One entry per student ONLY. 3. Interested participants must have to register through: https://bit.ly/REINFORCE2021 until November 4, 2021, 11:59PM. 4. The official concept of photos will be announced on November 5, 2021, 8:00AM and will be submitted on November 6, 2021, 12:00NN on [email protected] (Subject: CAPTURE- Surname; Filename:CAPTURE_FullName). 5. Photos must be original and not have been submitted for any other contests. 6. Only minor color corrections are acceptable. Minimal cropping and filters are also accepted. 7. Entries must assure the essence of capturing moments as we see it, not as products of Photoshop or setup photography. 8. The photo must not contain any offensive or vulgar elements. 9. Each photograph must be accompanied with a title and short caption not more than three (3 words). 10. Officers of PICE/ACES BatStateU and The Transit are NOT allowed to join the competition.

11. The photos will be judged by the following criteria: (Score sheet will be shown after the announcement of winners on November 28, 2021) 30% 25% Creativity and Originality 20% Visual Impact 15% Adherence to the theme 10% Composition Caption 12. A certificate of participation will be given to the participants. Winners will receive the following: People’s Choice Award Php 200.00 + Certificate of Recognition Best Caption Php 300.00 + Certificate of Recognition First Place Php 1,000.00 + Certificate of Recognition Second Place Php 700.00 + Certificate of Recognition Third Place Php 500.00 + Certificate of Recognition 13. The judges’ decision is final and irrevocable. 14. People’s Choice Award Mechanics 1. Scoring system: 1 like/react = 1 point 1 share = 2 points 2. Likes/reactions and shares by people who have not yet liked the official Association of Civil Engineering Students – Batangas State University Facebook page will not be counted. 3. Only the likes/reacts and shares on the official photo, not the likes/reacts and shares on the shared posts of the photo, will be counted. 4. The photos and caption will be uploaded on November 7, 2021, 8:00AM and will be counted at exactly 11:59PM on November 12, 2021.

CONNECT As part of REINFORCE 2021: Civil Engineering Month Celebration with the theme “Fortifying the Future”, PICE/ACES BatStateU will conduct a Bridge Building Competition entitled CONNECT. 1. This competition is to be participated by bona fide BS Civil Engineering students of Batangas State University. 2. One entry per student ONLY. 3. Interested participants must register through: https://bit.ly/REINFORCE2021 until November 19, 2021, 11:59PM. Each participant will be given a corresponding number indicated in the confirmation email. The assigned number will be their Zoom name and the order of presentation of their bridge after the building proper. (ex.: 1 – Juan A. Dela Cruz; Zoom name: 1) 4. Officers of PICE/ACES BatStateU are NOT allowed to join the competition. 5. Bridges must be original and not have been submitted for any other contests. 6. The participants should prepare their materials before 8:00AM on November 21, 2021. They should use used indigenous and/or recyclable materials in building and designing their bridges. 7. Participants should also prepare their devices and make sure that their cameras are switched on throughout the virtual competition. The committee will inspect each participant on the bridge building proper. Once caught with a readymade bridge, the participant will be automatically disqualified from the competition.

8. Each participant shall construct their bridges within three (3) hours, on the spot, via Zoom and will be streamed through Facebook Live. The official timer will be presented. 9. Once the timer has ended, participants are NOT allowed to move or alter any part of their model. Immediately after, each participant will be given five (5) minutes to present their model. Participants that will not comply with the time frame given will be automatically disqualified. 10. The rules and regulation will NOT be strict with the bridges’ measurements and other requirements that cannot be checked virtually. Participants will be judged by the following criteria: ( Score sheets will be shown after the announcement of winners on November 28, 2021) Symmetry of Form 40% Complexity of the Bridge Model 25% Difficulty of the Bridge Model 20% Design/Aesthetics 15% 11. A certificate of participation will be given to the participants. First, second, and third placers will receive a certificate of recognition and cash prize. First Place Php 1,000.00 Second Place Php 700.00 Third Place Php 500.00 12. The judges’ decision is final and irrevocable. 13. CREATE As part of REINFORCE 2021: Civil Engineering Month Celebration with the theme “Fortifying the Future”, PICE/ACES BatStateU will conduct a Rube Goldberg Machine Design Competition entitled CREATE. 1. This competition is to be participated by bona fide BS Civil Engineering students of Batangas State University. 2. One entry per student ONLY. 3. Interested participants must register through: https://bit.ly/REINFORCE2021 until November 12, 2021, 11:59PM. Each participant will be given a corresponding number indicated in the confirmation email. The assigned number will be there Zoom name and the order of presentation of their bridge after the building proper. (ex.: 1 – Juan A. Dela Cruz; Zoom name: 1) 4. Officers of PICE/ACES BatStateU are NOT allowed to join the competition. 5. Machines must be original and not have been submitted for any other contests. 6. The participants should prepare their materials before 8:00AM on November 14, 2021. Participants are encouraged to use indigenous and/or recyclable materials in making their machines. 7. Participants should also prepare their devices and make sure that their cameras are switched on throughout the virtual competition. The committee will inspect each participant on the machine making proper. Once caught with a ready-made machine, the participant will be automatically disqualified from the competition.

8. Each participant shall build at least three (3) working stages completing a simple task (e.g., putting toothpaste on a toothbrush, pouring juice on a glass, etc.) within three (3) hours, on the spot, via Zoom and will be streamed through Facebook Live. The official timer will be presented. 9. NO electrical energy, batteries, explosives, fire, knives, razor blades, dangerous flying objects or dangerous/toxic chemicals are allowed. The machine may not incorporate any living animals such as hamsters, fishes, etc. 10. Once the timer has ended, each participant will present their respective machines. Participants may NOT touch their machines after they have started its motion. Participants that will not comply with the time frame given will be automatically disqualified. 11. The rules and regulation will NOT be strict with the measurements and other requirements that cannot be checked virtually. However, two-point (2 point) deduction will be given each time the participant gives the machine help to continuously work. Participants will be judged by the following criteria: (Score sheets will be shown after the announcement of winners on November 28, 2021) Number and difficulty of steps 20% (number of steps, measure of effort applied) Creativity/Innovation 20% (ideas, patterns, and originality applied, how the materials were utilized) Complexity 30% (measure of thinking, action, or knowledge applied) Overall success of the machine 30% (completion of the simple task)

11. A certificate of participation will be given to the participants. First, second, and third placers will receive a certificate of recognition and cash prize.
