The site style and materiality was studied from the history of the area whether it was thebuildings that existed previously on the site or the contextual buildings which dictatedthat brick be a very important part of the building materiality while the structure wasselected to be steel to allow for high loads with a thin structure allowing for big glassopenings into the distillery making the process transparent

Located at the intersection of Division and Halsted, this siteextends along the river’s edge. The Eastern branch of GooseIsland is rarely dredged and sees little traffic. This provides aunique opportunity to introduce a wetland park that restoresthe riparian zone. Our team took our previous studies ofsensing light and touching shadow and began to imagine whatit would be like to create a gallery embedded in this naturallandscape by casting architecture.

The site underneath the train was proposed to be a pedestrian artery for thecampus defined by buildings opening on it from both sides and having pointswhere that promenade would branch out to other campus nodes
The buildings weredesigned to be mixedused with dormitoriesand designed in a waythat keeps the prom-enade transparent tothe outside while atthe same time clearlydefining it as a privatepedestrian axis for thecampus that connectsthe buildings along itboth visually and infunction
