athletic director ///// From our Athletic Director Tracy Howard On behalf of our wonderful faculty, staff, and students of Southwest Christian School, Athletic Director/Head Baseball Coaach welcome to our beautiful campus, and thank you for supporting our student athletes by attending tonight’s contest! We’re also grateful to the many SCS boosters, parents, and fans for your continued support of Eagle Athletics. It is through your commitment that we are able to continue and successfully equip our programs to reach their highest potential. Physical Education and athletics are integral to our work at SCS shaping Christian leaders. We believe efforts on the field, court, or course are truly extensions of our classrooms. Student athletes are able to discover, expand, and refine their God-given abilities while learning through both victory and defeat, lessons they can carry with them far beyond the field of competition. We know through scripture that the Lord continually encourages us to work with our best effort and to reach our full potential for His glory, and athletic competition certainly offers us that opportunity. The coaches and athletes engaged in the contest tonight have worked tirelessly to not only be competitive, but to strive for excellence while being mindful of the fact that we are all a part of something much larger than ourselves. So enjoy the game, be proud, cheer loud, and as always, it’s a great day to be an Eagle! Tracy Howard Athletic Director covid-19 fan protocol You are attesting by your attendance that you have self-screened and are not showing any symptoms of illness. Please be mindful of those around you and maintain a safe physical distance from other groups throughout the event. To assist with this, we have allotted two unseated rows between each general admission row. Please abide by this seating arrangement, sitting only in the section that is on your ticket and maintaining at least six feet of distance between other families on the same row. We also ask that in keeping with the alignment of the GA-29 Executive Order, all fans wear a face covering at all times unless you are actively eating and/or drinking. Grateful for your support of all the participants in tonight’s contest, we pray that you will diligently follow these protocols. In an abundance of caution and concern for the safety of all involved, we reserve the right to stop the contest to enforce these expectations and to remove from the premises anyone who refuses to comply. Thank you for partnering with us as we strive to keep our vulnerable populations safe (Matthew 25:40). 2
///// FOOTBALL Jeromy Flowers 2020 COACHING STAFF Head Coach / Safeties JEROMY FLOWERS ///// HEAD VARSITY FOOTBALL COACH About Coach Flowers Coach Flowers started his coaching career at Arlington Lamar High School under Eddie Peach. Three years later, he received his first head coaching job at Harrison High School in Indiana where the team played in two back- to-back sectional championship games. After four seasons at Harrison, he went to Portage High School also in Indiana. In his two seasons at Portage, they had back-to-back conference winning records, something that had not happened in the previous seven seasons. From Portage High School he went to Homewood-Flossmor High School in Illinois for three seasons. During those three seasons they made it to the quarterfinals, semi-finals, and the state championship games. Coach Flowers has been blessed to coach on some of the biggest stages in high school football including a 5A Semifinal game in Texas and the 8A State Championship game in Illinois, but one of his best memories is leading the Eagles to their first playoff berth in nine years. Thoughts from the Head Coach Making it to the playoffs three out of the last four years has been great, but it is time for SCS football to take it to another level. This off-season I met with my upcoming seniors and a few of our underclassmen to go through a Bible study on what it means to be a leader like Nehemiah. As a group, we decided to cast a compelling vision for the team. The compelling vision is: Win the District Be the Kings of Bryant Irvin (KBI), beating TVS and Country Day Make a long playoff run We believe in this vision because we are going to practice and play everyday for Christ. We will have confidence through the abilities that Christ has given us to beat any team that is on our schedule. This will be a fun season. You will not want to miss any of it! “We believe in this vision because we are going to practice and play everyday for Christ. ” - JeromyFlowers Head Football Coach

CROSS COUNTRY About Coach Swinney 2020 COACHES & SCHEDULE Coach Swinney has been a member of the SCS faculty for 13 years where he has taught in the Bible Department and now serves as the Spiritual Life Director. This ///// will be his fourth year as the Head Cross Country Coach. He formerly served in the United States Marine Corps, where he was the second-fastest runner in his Division in Marine Corps Boot Camp. Coach Swinney’s desire is to help push these athletes to better versions of themselves every day. He believes that the discipline learned in cross-country will help them accomplish this goal and give them a head start toward future goals. Chris Swinney HEAD VARSITY CROSS COUNTRY COACH Year Preview The XC team fought hard in 2019 and both the boys’ and girls’ teams were crowned District Champions once again. At the TAPPS 5A State Meet, the boys’ team finished in fifth place and the girls took a podium finish at third place! This sets the bar high for the 2020 XC teams, but I believe that they have all the skills, discipline, and motivation needed to continue in this successful direction. We are blessed to have many returning runners including Junior Reagan High, the 2018 and 2019 TAPPS 5A individual State Champion, and Senior Jared Gallagher who finished in 8th place at the 2019 State Meet. We also have some new faces that have joined the team and are positioned to be difference makers for the Eagles this season. Behind the leadership of our Captains Harrison Dooley, Jared Gallagher, and Maguire Smith on the boys’ side, and Haylee Davis, Katie High, and Reagan High on the girls’ side, I believe that this team is positioned to do some great things. I am excited to see where God leads them this season! 12
