Outside of work I've got four kids, a dog and a husband so they keep me just as busy! We love camping (well I should say glamping!) and try to get away when we can together as a family. Volunteering at Craig Albert The Horizons team had a brilliant day back in September calling on our painting and gardening skills to help spruce up The Scottish Centre For Children With Motor Impairments in Cumbernauld. The centre provides specialist therapy and education for children and young people affected by cerebral palsy and similar neurological conditions. It was a great to be able to use one of our volunteering days to help the centre out. \"The atmosphere was so friendly and observing the banter, I’m quite sure everyone really enjoyed mucking in!” Frances Todd, Head of Corporate Services, Frances Todd, kindly said: “It was a pleasure having volunteers from Scottish Water Horizons spending time at the centre. In just one day the team managed to paint two of our classrooms, do some weeding in our sensory gardens and recycled some wooden pallets which really helped tidy up our grounds.\" A massive well done to all involved!

At the start of the year, our food TO THE MOON AND waste recycling facility at Deerdykes BACK (12 TIMES) celebrated a milestone green energy WITH achievement. FOOD WASTE Since opening in 2010, the site has generated over 50GWh of green electricity - that's the equivalent of powering 13,000 homes for a year! Not only is the Deerdykes site carbon neutral, it also exports excess energy created from the recycled food waste to the national grid. Horizons Commerical Contracts Manager, Colin said at the time: “Since we started processing food waste and converting it to electricity, we have saved more than 170,000 tonnes of carbon. That’s the equivalent to driving over six million miles in a car – or to the moon and back 12 times!\" Lights, Camera, Action with East Dunbartonshire Council! We were excited to get behind the camera and work alongside East Dunbartonshire Council to help them produce their 'food waste journey' promo-video. It was part of our commitment to helping them highlight the importance of recycling household food waste and how the biogas created can be used to produce electricity, heat and fertiliser.
