Write about, or draw, assemble a collage, create a word cloud, paint, sketch, etc. a summary of your inspiration about your career or vocational pathway. What will an inspired career journey look like for you? How might it unfold? Write any thoughts in the space below, and separately collect and keep any images, drawings, physical objects or artefacts that contribute or refine this inspiration. As it feels right, share these inspirations with your colleagues and coaches in the Tri Cosain community. Resources: 9 Questions for Leadership in Life and Work Q1 Inspiration, Q2 Relationships, communities and dialogue, Q3 Learning journeys, Q4 Stances, states and qualities of mind, Q5 Developing maturity and self-awareness, Q6 Engaging with complex systems, Q7 Engaging the whole person, Q8 Being a maker, Q9 Journeys of transformation 75
From the founders of Tri Cosain There’s plenty of talk about the need for transformation in leadership work, in our vocations and careers, but transformation from what? to what? for what? And following what path? How do we as leaders inspire, design, enable and support these transformations, for our- selves and others, shaping the relationships and the contexts that make them possible? We conceive Tri Cosain, or “three pathways” from the Irish Gaelic, as the weaving together of three strands of inquiry: personal and col- lective inspiration, learning journeys, and career development. The present volume focuses primarily on the career strand … and … as you may have already observed, it touches into and draws on both sources of inspiration and learning journeys. As we consider career decisions, we sometimes hear people speak about “being world-class” and “winning.” Usually these ideas turn out to be about individual achievement and being better than others. Instead, we invite you to be the creative genius you were meant to be: to create a career, projects, teams, communities and organizations that allow you and others to realize your creative potential. If you do that, we believe the ‘success’ will be there for everyone. We invite you to help many others to be the creative geniuses they were meant to be. It’s not about comparison, being better than some- one else, or winning in that sense. It’s about being the best you can be and helping many others do the same. That’s what “winning’ really means to us. Our hope is that the interdependent streams of Tri Cosain will be use- ful to all of us as we undertake our journeys of growth and discovery.
