Spring Is Here! It’s time to get outside and play! Whatever your sport, it’s easy to get hurt. Take these precautions to avoid injuries. Wear Protective Gear This is anything you wear to keep you from getting hurt. Helmets are the most common and protect your head! Make sure you wear a helmet, that you have the right helmet for your sport, that it fits correctly, and that you wear it correctly! Examples of other sports protective gear are: mouth guards, pads, wrist guards, knee guards, cleats, etc. Talk to your coach or parents to know what to get! Warm Up Always stretch and get loosened up before playing. If you get your muscles ready to play, you are much less likely to get hurt. Know The Rules Of The Game Know what’s legal and what’s not. ALWAYS obey the rules. Rules are in place to keep injuries from happening. Watch Out For Others Communicate on the field and follow the rules meant to protect others. Don’t Play While Injured This is the most important. After getting hurt, it is tempting to jump right back into the game. This is a bad idea! Listen to your parents, doctors, and coaches.
