PERFORMING ARTS, contemporary ACTING & Dance For those looking for a career in Performing Arts, Contemporary Acting or Dance, City College have a range of courses delivered by tutors who are experienced actors and dancers with industry experience. You will learn practical aspects of performance techniques and methods for contemporary theatre. You will also consider theories and principles of the performing arts and the challenges of devising and organising an event or performance. Our courses will enable you to develop your career in the industry by developing your existing skills and providing you with new skills, in-depth knowledge of the industry and context of the performing arts. These highly practical courses provide you with a range of performance approaches and opportunities to produce and take part in performance projects and events. Example productions are A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Macbeth, Stags and Hens, Ubu Rex, Snow White Pantomime and The Three Lives of Lucie Cabrol.4

He is also trained in stage combat. Over theyears Ian has worked with many production companies and has taken onroles in Shakespeare, open-air theatre and has experience in voice overwork. He still acts alongside his full time teaching post. 5

THEATRical hair & media make-up If you want a career in theatre and have a passion for make-up this course could be for you. This exciting career- led course covers the requirements for the application of specialised make-up and synthetic hair for theatrical and media purposes. It is a highly practical course with a high level of theory work as well. You will put the workshop skills you learn into practice and document your progress in sketch books to document evidence in order to complete the units on this course. During the course you will learn about production arts, performing arts business and production arts planning. You will work on two performances so work experience is a vital part of the course.10
You will work as a make-up/hair artist on these productionsand attend meetings to help plan the productions in relationto make-up design and event planning. You will also learnmake-up application skills and creative uses in performancewhere you look at areas of make-up application and design formusic videos, fashion, photographic, film and theatre.tutor profileZOE TATNUM-ROONEY First training in beauty, hair and wig making, Zoe progressed into her specialist area of media, theatre and photographic make-up while studying at the London College of Fashion. She progressed onto assist some of the most highly regarded make-up artists within the industry. Zoe still practices in the industry as a freelance make-up artist and has worked for many production companies with large clients including BBC, SKY 1, Granada Television and MTV. Zoe has also worked on an array of music videos, commercials and photographic print for high profile performers such as Oasis and Girls Aloud.
