The laws and regulations: CONE BEAM COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY (CBCT) IN DENTAL PRACTICES DR LOUISE BROWN There are no national guidelines governing the use of CBCT in dental practices throughout Australia. All states and territories require users of CBCT machines to have a CBCT radiation licence. There is wide variation throughout Australia in how a CBCT licence is attained and it is best to check with your local state or territory Radiation Health Authority. WESTERN AUSTRALIA The WA Regional Committee was very active in the second half of 2015 with both social and collegial events. Following the 50th Anniversary Ball, which was hailed by those who attended as a fantastic and well organised event, the WA committee attended to local matters. On 27th of August there was a function for all candidates at the Burnleigh Hotel. The event was well attended and candidates relished the opportunity to gain valuable insight from some more senior fellows. Federal Councillor Peter Gregory gave a rousing account of the 50th Anniversary celebrations. ASIA A series of tutorials have been arranged by the Asia Committee to assist the local candidates in preparing for their Fellowship examinations. Tutorials on anatomy and microbiology were delivered by Dr Tipoe and Professor WK Leung respectively in early November. Dr SF Leung and various past candidates organized a sharing session with the final exam candidates on Examiners of the Primary Examination with the Asia Regional Committee 1st December. CHRISTENSEN PRIZE The Christensen Prize is awarded to the candidate with the highest marks at the Primary Examination and consists of a medal and a monetary award of $500. In 2015, there were two recipients, Dr Michael Skilbeck and Dr Jason Chew who relay their experience with the College and offer advice to future candidates.
