INTERVIEW Interview With SB: What sparked your interest in this project? CD: My work for the Auckland District Health Board Professor Callum Durward (as a paediatric dentist) and for the Scool of Oral Health at AUT, was both interesting and rewarding. However, after 10 years I felt the need for a change. With encouragement from my friends and colleagues in Cambodia, I decided to return and assist with the huge task of improving dental training and services. These services in Cambodia fall far behind other Southeast Asian countries. And so, having arrived without a job I soon found plenty of things I could do. SB: What do you think are the main values of being involved in a project such as this for Australian and New Zealand Dentists and/or Students? When overseas dentists and students come to Cambodia, there are many ways they can help – but they will also benefit from the experience alone.
