Call to Worship One: This is the day the Lord has made! All: We will rejoice! We are glad! One: This is the day the Lord has made – a perfect day for Miracles! All: The freedom God gives is such a miracle! The Lord’s liberty is found in the Lord’s law. One: This is the day the Lord has made – a day not so different from the day God gave us the commandments through Moses. All: Hide your word in our hearts O Lord, so that we will not sin against you. Create in us clean hearts – hearts that are free for joyful obedience, hearts that help your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. Amen. Praise & Worship First Report Prayer

The Spoken Word \"The Law of Liberty\" Jeremiah 29:4-7 & Exodus 20:1-20 Pastor Eleanor Colvin Sermon Notes Key Scriptures:   Psalm 119:11 (NIV) - I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Exodus 20:20 (NIV) - Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning.” 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 (NIV) - Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. Jeremiah 29:7 (NIV) - Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”

Sermon Notes Key Questions: 1. How do you define liberty? What about spiritual liberty? 2. In our communion liturgy, we pray to be freed for joyful obedience. Does obedience to God (and God’s law) feel joyful to you? Or, does it seem more like a chore or burden? 3. How does your liberty impact the liberty of others? ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________
