Call to Worship/Advent Reading One Voice: We light one candle for hope. Because the world is broken and the wait is long, but hope just won’t let go. Hope holds space for all our longings as it lingers on the edge of harsh reality – like the dawn gently awakening the sky. “Keep awake, keep watch” hope whispers, “for the world is being made new.” So, we light one candle, because it only takes one: Christ with us. All Voices: We have hope, because we have Christ. Amen!

The Spoken Word “Get Ready… A Great Thing Is Coming Our Way!!!” Mark 13:24-37 Speaker: Mr. Vernon Moore Sermon Notes Key Scriptures:   Mark 13:32-33 (NLT) – “However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows. And since you don’t know when that time will come, be on guard! Stay alert!” Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT) – “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” John 11:40 (NLT) – Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?”

Sermon Notes Key Scriptures:   Isaiah 40:31 (NLT) - But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. Psalm 46:10 (NLT) - “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” Key Questions: 1. How have the current events in our society (pandemic, issues of social unrest, political crisis, etc.) affected your faith as we approach this Season of Advent? 2. With the limited opportunities regarding fellowship (due to Covid-19), how can the church be most effective in spreading the “good news” during this season? ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________
