50 Days of Easter May 15, 2022 First United Methodist Church 1125 Wellborn Road, College Station, TX 77840 Rev. Eleanor Colvin, Pastor (979) 690-8415 Website: 1stCollegeStation.org

Call to Worship One: Worshippers -- do you see what God sees? All: A new heaven and a new earth are coming! One: Disciples – do you hear what God hears? All: The Lord says He lives among the people now. We are His people and He is our God. One: People of God – a new heaven and new earth are coming! All: We feel it, as all our tears are wiped away. We are assured of it, as God comforts us. We welcome it – as we, ourselves, are made new in Worship. One: Come, let us worship the Lord, who is about to do a new thing. All: Alleluia and Amen!

The Spoken Word “Imagine God’s Imagination”” Revelation 21:1-6 Rev. Eleanor L. Colvin Sermon Notes Key Scriptures:   Revelation 21:1 - Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away … (NIV) Revelation 21:3-4 - And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (NIV) Revelation 21:6 - He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.” (NIV) Matthew 13:13 - This is why I speak to them in parables: ‘Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.’ 1 Corinthians 2:9 - But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him. (KJV) Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Key Questions: 1. What do you imagine is God’s vision for heaven on earth? What do you imagine God’s vision is for your life? 2. What (if anything) is blocking your view – or preventing you from seeing the world as God sees? 3. What spiritual practices could strengthen your spiritual imagination? _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________
