Call to Worship One: Sing! Sing unto the Lord! All: Let’s make a joyful noise unto the Lord! Let’s worship God with gladness. One: We were made to worship! So, we come into God’s presence with singing! All: We thank you Lord for your Amazing Grace! We seek you Lord for even Greater Grace! One: Give thanks and bless God’s holy name. For God is great and worthy to be praised! All: Your grace is a gift. With our worship, we say thank you. Through our service, we say thank you! One: O come magnify the Lord with me! All: Let us exalt God’s name forever! Let us sing! Sing unto the Lord!

The Spoken Word “Greater Grace” Ephesians 2:8-9 and 2 Corinthians 12 Rev. Eleanor L. Colvin Sermon Notes Key Scriptures:   Ephesians 2:4-5 – But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions —it is by grace you have been saved. Ephesians 2:8-9 – For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith— and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. 2 Corinthians 12:7-9 – Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in Weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:10 – That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Key Questions: 1.What is your normal reaction when you receive a gift? Do you say thanks? Use it? Share it? Forget about it? 2.What is your reaction when you receive grace? 3.How would you explain grace to someone who is not religious at all? Some use the image of chips-and-salsa at a Mexican restaurant… Typically, you’re blessed with them – at no cost to you – and you don’t even have to ask for them. How would you paint the picture of what grace is? 4.How have you seen God’s grace at work in your life? Is there something happening in your life now for which you could use “greater grace.” _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________
