Call to Worship One: Come, let’s worship the Lord, who is our Shepherd. All: We have all we need in you Lord. That’s a reason to praise! One: Come, let’s worship the Shepherd, who walks with us and talks with us. All: We trust You, Good Shepherd, to guide our feet, to restore our souls. One: Come, let’s worship – as we feast on the word of God. All: What a blessing to be fed by the Shepherd, who prepares a table before us. One: Come, let’s worship God – whose goodness and mercy follow us. All: We give thanks for the Shepherd’s care. We have a reason to praise! Hallelujah! Amen!

The Spoken Word “A Table Prepared — for Overflow!” Psalm 23:4-5 and Luke 14:15-23 Rev. Eleanor L. Colvin Sermon Notes Key Scriptures:   Psalm 23:4 – Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff — they comfort me. Psalm 23:5 – You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Luke 14:15-18 – “Blessed is the one who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God.” Jesus replied: “A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests. At the time of the banquet, he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’ “But they all alike began to make excuses.”

Luke 14:21-23 – “Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.’ “‘Sir,’ the servant said, ‘what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.’ “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.” Joshua 1:3 – I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. Key Questions: 1.Are you getting stuck in the valley, or pushing your way through to the table that is prepared for you? 2.Are you limiting yourself to a plate, when the whole table is yours? What beliefs are blocking your overflow? 3. How would you engage your enemies if you understood God might be using them to set the table for you? _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________
