Call to Worship One: Happy new month! On this first Sunday of February, some minds are mesmerized by the Super Bowl – almost as much as our super Savior. All: We come to worship the MVP who gave his life for you and me! One: On this first Sunday of February, some souls are focused on the strength and struggles of our people, as we celebrate Black History Month. All: We come to worship the God who has a history of seeing us through. We worship the One who is faithful, whose mercies are new every morning.

Call to Worship One: On this first Sunday of February, some hearts are speeding ahead to the sweetness of Valentine’s Day. All: We come to worship the One who first loved us and who commands us to love one another. One: It’s a new month! All: A new day to pause and praise the most victorious team of all time – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen! Amen.

The Spoken Word “Reach Back and Rise Up!” Isaiah 40:28-31 and Hebrews 11:1 Rev Eleanor L. Colvin Sermon Notes Key Scriptures:   Hebrews 11:1 — Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Isaiah 40:28-29 — Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth in strength. Isaiah 40:30-31 — Even youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint. Psalm 15:1-2 — Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy holy hill? The one that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in their heart.

Key Questions: 1.What do you need to “go back and get” from our history that would bless your future? 2.What hope has God’s past faithfulness inspired in you for this present day? 3.What will history one day say you accomplished by faith? ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________
