Call to Worship One: And this is how we know what love is…. All: God so loved the world that he gave his only son for us. One: God gave his son to teach us – All: How to live and how to love. One: God gave his son to reach us – All: When we were sinking deep in sin. When we were thinking our ways were better than God’s ways. One: On this Sixth Sunday of Lent, we celebrate the soon-coming King. We cry out: Hosanna! All: Hosanna in the Highest! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed are we who serve him. Amen.

The Spoken Word “A Palm’s Perspective” Luke 19:28-40 Rev. Eleanor L. Colvin Sermon Notes Key Scriptures:   Luke 19:30-31 — \"Go into the village ahead of you, and as you enter it you will find tied there a colt that has never been ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, 'Why are you untying it?' just say this, 'The Lord needs it.'\" Luke 19:37-38 – As he was now approaching the path down from the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the deeds of power that they had seen, saying, \"Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest heaven!\" Luke 19:39 — Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, \"Teacher, order your disciples to stop.\" Psalm 118:25-26 — Save us, we beseech you, O Lord! O Lord, we beseech you, give us success! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord. We bless you from the house of the Lord.

Key Questions: 1. Luke 19:37 says the whole multitude of disciples was praising God. Are you in that number? 2. What do you have that the Lord needs? Have you released it to God or are you holding on to it? 3. What are you doing in the name of Jesus that would compel the enemies of God to ask Jesus to ask you to stop? (Luke 19:39) 4. Are you ready to walk the road to resurrection? Are you able to stay faithful through suffering and betrayal? Are you able to stay faithful – and not cause Christ suffering because of your betrayal? _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________
