Order of Service Call to Worship One: Come, let’s worship! All: In worship, our God is sowing seeds of faith, of hope and of love. May our hearts receive! One: Come, let’s worship! All: In worship, our God is planting peace and prosperity. May our hearts receive! One: Come, let’s worship our God, the Great Sower, who can tell the wheat from the weeds. All: May the word of God take root in our lives, so that we won’t be distracted by the weeds sown by the enemy. One: The enemy is busy. But, God is still blessing! All: May the word of God take root in our lives, so that we might bear fruit that glorifies our Creator. Amen. Praise & Worship First Report Prayer
The Spoken Word \"Mistaken Identity: Wheat or Seeds?\" Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43 Pastor Eleanor Colvin Sermon Notes Key Scriptures: 1 Peter 5:8 (NIV) - Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Matthew 13:24-25 (NIV) - Jesus told them another parable: The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. Matthew 13:28-30 (NIV) - “‘An enemy did this,’ he replied. “The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’ “‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’” Psalm 139:1-4 (NIV) - You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.
Sermon Notes Key Questions: 1. What weeds are being sown in your spiritual soil by the enemy? 2. What does your discipleship declare that you are – wheat or weed? What would the Sower say? _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________
