Call to Worship One: And this is how we know what love is…. All: God so loved the world that he gave his only son for us. One: Can you hear God calling you closer — on this Lenten journey of love? All: In our worship, we return to you Lord. In our prayer, we return to you Lord. In our fasting, we return to you Lord. One: Our God who never leaves us, invites us to seek his presence – in the middle of our problems. All: Help us to seek you, Lord. In this season, may the song of our heart be: give me you – everything else can wait. One: On this third Sunday of Lent, we seek your Living Water to satisfy every thirst. All: Change us O, God. Create in us clean hearts and renew our spirits. Amen.
The Spoken Word “Holy Hydration — We Thirst” Psalm 63 Rev. Eleanor L. Colvin Sermon Notes Key Scriptures: Psalm 63:1 – O God, you are my God, I seek you, my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. Psalm 63:3 – Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. Psalm 63:5-6 – My soul is satisfied as with a rich feast, and my mouth praises you with joyful lips. When I think of you on my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night. Psalm 63:7-8 — For you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I sing for joy. My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me. Psalm 42:1-2 — As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul thirsts for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When can I go and meet with God?
Key Questions: 1.How much water do you consume each day? Are you clear on how essential water is to your health? 2.Are you at risk of being a dehydrated disciple? Are you clear on how essential spiritual hydration is for your life? 3. What’s your favorite drink? Are you ever tempted to substitute it for water? Why/why not? Similarly, do you allow other things to fill you up in lieu of God’s Living Water? _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________
