Order of Service Praise & Worship Call to Worship One: And this is how we know what love is…. All: God so loved the world that he gave his only son for us. One: Welcome to the Journey of Love that we call the Len- ten Season. Can you hear God calling you closer? All: In our worship, we return to you Lord. In our prayer, we return to you Lord. In our fasting, we return to you Lord. One: Our God who never leaves us, invites us to seek his presence – even in our wilderness moments. All: Help us to seek you, Lord. In this season, may the song of our heart be: give me you – everything else can wait. One: On this first Sunday of Lent, we declare that we are ready for the Journey. All: hange us O, God. The Spoken Word “Welcome to the Journey!” Mark 1: 9-15 Pastor Eleanor Colvin The Invitation to Christian Discipleship “Go forth empowered by Christ’s light to serve like Christ.” Sermon Notes Key Scriptures: Isaiah 58:1 – Declare to my people their rebellion….to the descendants of Jacob their sin. Joel 2:12-14 – Even now, declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. Who knows? He may turn and relent and leave behind a blessing. Mark 1:13 – He was in the wilderness 40 days, tempted by Satan; and he was with the wild beasts; and the angels waited on him.

Here’s What’s Happening at 1st Church  Today: The Season of Lent – our journey toward Easter and the cross — has begun. Please come pick up your Lent Boxes after worship. These kits have been prepared to help you and your family honor the season.  SUNDAY SCHOOL RETURNS for all ages on the THIRD Sunday of February. Use the worship link to log on at 9:45. Timeliness is important — as you must be placed in the Sunday School room by the moderator. Classes will meet on 1st and 3rd Sundays.  Feb. 24 – Our Lenten Bible Study begins this Wednesday at 6:;30 p.m. The 7 Last Words of Jesus from the Cross will be our study this season. Meeting ID: 883 5735 3241  Feb. 28 — We will celebrate Black History Month on the 4th Sunday. You’re wel- come to dress in African attire and turn your cameras on! Remember, the theme is celebrating the Black Family. Our children and youth are invited to share what fami- ly member is a “hero/shero” to them.
