Call to Worship One: This is the day the Lord has made! All: We will rejoice! We are glad! One: This is the day the Lord has made — a perfect day to preach the Gospel and to live the Gospel! All: Lord, we are striving for perfection! Lord, we are pressing toward the mark of the high calling! One: And what is our calling? All: To love the Lord with all our heart, all our mind, all our soul and all our strength! One: Is that all? All: No! We are called to love our neighbors as we love ourselves! One: Children of God — let’s get to work! All: With our worship and service, in our giving and living, we praise God and press on for perfection! Amen and Amen!

The Spoken Word “We Walk By Faith, We Serve By Sight” Philippians 3:12-14 and Mark 10:56-52 Rev. Eleanor L. Colvin Sermon Notes Key Scriptures:   Proverbs 29:18 — Where there is no vision, the people perish: but happy is the one that keeps the law. Mark 10:46-47 — Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Mark 10:51-52 — “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road. Habakkuk 2:2-3 — And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tablets, that he may run that reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie.

Philippians 3:12 — Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Philippians 3:13-14 — Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Key Questions: 1.Science suggests that eating carrots and wearing sunglasses can both be good for the eyes, in different ways. What are you doing to ensure your spiritual vision is strong and healthy? 2.Are you clear about God’s vision for your life? 3.What has God shown you about God’s vision for the church? The surrounding community? 4.When you receive sight/insight from God, are you ready to run with it? _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________
