Call to Worship One: Christ the Lord is Risen! All: The Lord is risen indeed! One: The Risen Lord is at work in us and in the world. All: Calling us to be disciples. Calling us to make disciples. One: The Good News is that Christ knows how to deal with our doubts. All: Today, we take our burdens to the Lord and leave them there. Today, we take our doubts to the Lord and leave them there. One: The Good News is, with Christ, there is forgiveness of sins and fullness of life, and everyone who believes will be saved. All: Lord, we believe! Help our unbelief! Remove all doubt from your disciples

The Spoken Word “Easter Appetites”” Luke 24:36-48 Pastor Eleanor Colvin Sermon Notes Key Scriptures:   Luke 24:36-38 – While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds?” Luke 24:40-43 – … he showed them his hands and feet. And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate it in their presence. Luke 24:45 – Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. James 1:5-6 – If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. Revelation 3:20 – Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Key Questions: 1.This week’s text gives us another glimpse at how Jesus handled the disciples’ doubts. How does the Lord deal with your doubts? 2.What proof does Christ offer you that he is risen AND he is Lord? 3. Is there an area of your life where you still need more wisdom, or still need Jesus to “open your mind” as he did for the disciples? 4.What are you hungry for? Is your appetite in alignment with God’s will for you? _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________
