December 26, 2021 First United Methodist Church 1125 Wellborn Road, College Station, TX 77840 Rev. Eleanor Colvin, Pastor (979) 690-8415 Website: 1stCollegeStation.org

Call to Worship One: Joy indescribable, hope unbelievable, love inconceivable came down to earth! All: O, come, let us adore him. One: We confess that we were so busy preparing for the holiday, that we sometimes forgot to prepare the way of the Lord. All: O, come, let us adore him! We worship as a way of making room for our newborn king. One: On this fifth Sunday of Advent, we light a candle that reminds us that the Light of the World has come. All: This Christmas season, we worship the One who was, and is, and is to come. We will walk in the light, the beautiful light of Christ, as we sing Joy to the World!

The Spoken Word “Like Christ” Colossians 3:12-17 Rev. Eleanor L. Colvin Sermon Notes Key Scriptures:   Colossians 3:12-15 — Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience ... And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Psalm 148:13 — Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his splendor is above the earth and the heavens. Luke 2:48-50 — When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.” “Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”But they did not understand what he was saying to them.

Key Questions: 1. Are you clothed like Christ? Are compassion, kindness, humility, patience and love a part of your wardrobe? 2.Are you about The Father’s business? Can you be found — as Jesus was — worshipping, teaching, and serving? 3.On this last Sunday of the year, what brings joy to your world? _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________
