Call to Worship One: Sing! Sing unto the Lord! All: Let’s make a joyful noise unto the Lord! Let’s worship God with gladness. One: We were made to worship! All: So, we come into God’s house praising and praying – as if our lives depended on it! One: They do! Lord, we thank you that every good and perfect gift comes from you! All: So, we seek you – in prayer and praise – today and all of our days. One: Lord, we declare your praise! All: In word and deed, in Spirit and in Truth. Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord!

The Spoken Word “Ask Big!” Esther 7:1-3 and James 5:13-18 Rev. Eleanor L. Colvin Sermon Notes Key Scriptures:   Esther 7:1-3 – So the king and Haman went in to feast with Queen Esther. On the second day, as they were drinking wine, the king again said to Esther, “What is your petition, Queen Esther? It shall be granted you. And what is your request? Even to the half of my kingdom, it shall be fulfilled.” Then Queen Esther answered, “If I have won your favor, O king, and if it pleases the king, let my life be given me—that is my petition—and the lives of my people—that is my request.” James 5:13-14 – Are any among you suffering? They should pray. Are any cheerful? They should sing songs of praise. Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. James 5:16 — Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective.

James 5:17-18 – Elijah was a human being like us, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. Then he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain and the earth yielded its harvest. Key Questions: 1.Esther asked the king for a blessing for herself and her people. What is your personal prayer in this season of life? What is your prayer for other people? For whom are you interceding in prayer? 2.Are you praying small….? Or, are you praying prayers of faith as big as the Provider? 3.James says that the prayers of a righteous person are effective and powerful. Are you living and serving in a way that increases or decreases the power of your prayers? _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________
