Call to Worship One: Sing! Sing unto the Lord! All: Let’s make a joyful noise unto the Lord! Let’s worship God with gladness. One: We were made to worship! So, we come into God’s presence with singing! All: You are the only True and Wise God! You are worthy to be praised! One: As it was in the beginning, Your Wisdom is always at work in the world — doing a new thing. All: Thank you God, for giving us a fresh start! One: It’s a new season! It’s a new day! All: A fresh anointing is coming our way. Lord, give us grace, make us wise, empower us to worship and serve. Amen.
The Spoken Word “Wisdom’s Wealth” 1 Kings 3:3-14 Rev. Eleanor L. Colvin Sermon Notes Key Scriptures: Proverbs 4:7 – Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom: and with all thy getting, get understanding. 1 Kings 3:9 – Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, able to discern between good and evil … 1 Kings 3:10 – It pleased the Lord that Solomon had asked this. 1 Kings 3:12-14 – I now do according to your word. Indeed I give you a wise and discerning mind; no one like you has been before you and no one like you shall arise after you. I give you also what you have not asked, both riches and honor all your life; no other king shall compare with you. If you will walk in my ways, keeping my statutes and my commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your life. Ephesians 5:15 – Be careful then how you live, not as unwise people, but as wise. Psalm 111:2 – Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them.
Key Questions: 1. When God asked Solomon what he would like God to give him, Solomon’s only request was “wisdom.” How would you respond to the same question? 2.Is wisdom the first thing you seek from God? What are some other things that climb to the top of the list ahead of wisdom and understanding? 3.God said because Solomon asked for wisdom, he would also be blessed with power and wealth? What other blessings might manifest in our lives if we sought wisdom first? _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________
