Call to Worship One: Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on us! All: Bless us to worship God and God alone. One: Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on us! Melt us, mold us, fill us, use us. All: Bless us to serve God and God alone. One: Lord, sustain us on the days our worship and service don’t feel like enough. When the world judges the seeds we sow – All: We know, that the world looks at the outside and You look at our hearts. One: Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on us! All: May the Spirit’s fire cleanse us. May the Spirit’s wind move us. To God be the glory! Amen.

The Spoken Word “God Sees Greatness in You!” Mark 4:26-34 and 1 Samuel 15:34-16:13 Rev. Eleanor L. Colvin Sermon Notes Key Scriptures:   Mark 4:30-32 – Again he said, “What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.” 1 Samuel 16:1 – The Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king.” 1 Samuel 16:6-7 – When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely the Lord’s anointed stands here before the Lord.” But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

1 Samuel 16:10-11 – Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, “The Lord has not chosen these.” So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.” Key Questions: 1.Are you underestimating what you have to offer God? Are you underestimating the gifts God has placed within you? 2.The mustard seed grows large — not for its own sake, but as a blessing to birds and other creatures. Who is your spiritual growth benefiting and blessing? Who has God placed on your heart to help, or serve or pray for? 3.1 Samuel tells us: People look at the outside, but the Lord looks at the heart. Have you misjudged anyone lately? What should you do about that? 4.While all his brothers were paraded before Samuel for approval, David was tending the sheep — taking care of business. What will you be found doing, when the Lord shows up to elevate you and enlarge your territory? _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________

Eleanor Colvin on the first Sunday in July! If you haven’t returned to campus yet, it would be a great Sunday to do so, as we kick off a new “annual conference” year in ministry. Your presence will help make “5-on-the-4th” a truly special day for the pastor and the church. You’re encouraged to bring a card or note of encouragement for Pastor Eleanor. -SAVE THE DATE – Vacation Bible School will take place the week of July 19. More details coming soon! -Bible Study – We will not gather for bible study in June. But, please don’t take a vacation from your discipleship!
