Call to Worship One: And this is how we know what love is…. All: God so loved the world that he gave his only son for us. One: Chocolates and candy, flowers and gifts are lovely... All: But, greater love has no one than to lay down their life for a friend. One: What a friend we have in Jesus! All: Today, when the world is focused on love, we come to worship the One who first loved us and who commands us to love one another. One: On this Transfiguration Sunday, we celebrate God’s love that has the power to change each and every one of us. All: Change us O, God. Inspire us to love as you love. Amen and Amen.

The Spoken Word “WOW!” Mark 9:2-10 (MSG) Ms. Wendi Peterson Sermon Notes Key Scriptures:   Mark 9:2-4 – Six days later, three of them did see it. Jesus took Peter, James, and John and led them up a high mountain. His appearance changed from the inside out, right before their eyes. His clothes shimmered, glistening white, whiter than any bleach could make them. Elijah, along with Moses, came into view, in deep conversation with Jesus. Mark 9:5-7 – Peter interrupted, “Rabbi, this is a great moment! Let’s build three memorials—one for you, one for Moses, one for Elijah.” He blurted this out without thinking, stunned as they all were by what they were seeing. Just then a light-radiant cloud enveloped them, and from deep in the cloud, a voice: “This is my Son, marked by my love. Listen to him.” Mark 9:9 – Coming down the mountain, Jesus swore them to secrecy. “Don’t tell a soul what you saw. After the Son of Man rises from the dead, you’re free to talk.”

Key Questions: 1.Have you ever been sworn to secrecy? 2.Have you ever wanted a complete transformation; (i.e., life, work, relationship)? Or considered what it would require? 3.Are we talking more than listening? ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________
