Call to Worship One: Sing! Sing unto the Lord! All: Let’s make a joyful noise unto the Lord! Let’s worship God with gladness. One: We were made to worship! So, we come into God’s presence with singing! All: We are God’s people and our hope is in God! One: Sing! Sing unto the Lord! All: Let’s give thanks to God and bless God’s holy name. One: For God is great and worthy to be praised! All: Come — let’s worship God who gives us hope and renews us! Sing! Sing unto the Lord!

The Spoken Word “Our Hope Is Built” Isaiah 40:28-31 Rev. Eleanor L. Colvin Sermon Notes Key Scriptures:   Romans 15:13 — May the God of hope, fill you with joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope, by the power of the Holy Spirit. Isaiah 40:28-29 — Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Isaiah 40:30-31 — Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Psalm 71:5 — For you have been my hope, Sovereign Lord, my confidence since my youth.

Key Questions: 1. What is your go-to song that gets you motivated? Gives you hope? What do you love about it? 2.On a day-to-day basis, what is the foundation of your hope? 3.Are you tired or weary in any way? Perhaps from work stress, or school pressure or family situations…. What would it look for God to renew your strength? Take a moment to imagine yourself peacefully and confidently soaring above your troubles. 4.The scripture says that those who hope in the Lord (wait on the Lord) will soar on wings like eagles. There are so many types of birds or wings Isaiah could’ve referenced. Why eagles? _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________
