All: Bread of heaven, bread of heaven, feed us ‘til we want no more. May worship leave us full, so that your glory might overflow from our lives. Praise & Worship First Report
Offertory Prayer Thank you, God, for the gift of salvation through our resurrected Savior. Our hearts are overflowing with the joy and hope of Easter. We pray that you will use our excitement to bring light and hope to those trapped in darkness and despair. Use our gifts of money to empower your work with those who have not yet seen the risen Lord in their midst. Use the gift of our very lives to carry your Incarnate Love into the world. We pray this with the boldness of those who have encountered the living Christ. Amen. The Spoken Word \"Step By Step\" Luke 24:13-35 Rev. Eleanor Colvin The Invitation to Christian Discipleship “Go forth empowered by Christ’s light to serve like Christ.”
Sermon Notes Key Scriptures: Luke 24:14-16 They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; but they were kept from recognizing him. Luke 24: 25-27 He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself. Luke 24: 30-32 When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” Luke 24: 34-35 “It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Si- mon.” Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.
Sermon Notes Key Questions Christ revealed himself to the disciples in the breaking of the bread. What are the ways you have come to experience and understand Christ speaking to you most clearly? What keeps you from recognizing Christ at work in your life? Have there been times in your Christian walk when perhaps you were walking with Christ, but still didn’t understand his purpose and plan for you? When you experience a revelation, do you keep it to yourself or do you go and tell others as these disciples did? What hunger can the Bread of Life fill for you in this season?
