Call to Worship One: Beloved -- come let us worship the Lord! All: God loves us and that's a good reason to Praise! One: Beloved -- come let us worship our good and gracious God. All: God loves us and is generous toward us — offering us new life and hope in all seasons. That's a good reason to praise! One: Because God is good all the time — and all the time, God is good — we can expect a miracle! All: We worship with expectancy today! Because God truly is a Way-maker and Miracle Worker! Hallelujah! Amen!
The Spoken Word “Expect a Miracle!” John 2:1-11 Rev. Eleanor L. Colvin Sermon Notes Key Scriptures: John 2:1-5 – On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.” “Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” John 2:11 – What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in Him. Psalm 36:6-7 – You, Lord, preserve both people and animals. How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! Psalm 36:9 – For with you is the fountain of life, in your light, we see Light. 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 – There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord...Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
Key Questions: 1) Some of Jesus’ miracles were extraordinary healings, others were ordinary everyday provisions. What do you need most from the Lord today? 2) Jesus’ mothers instructed the servants to “do whatever he tells you to do” in order to experience the miracle. Are you willing to do whatever Christ tells you? 3) Sometimes we “miss the miracle” because we’re expecting a burning bush or the sky cracked open. What have miracles looked like in your life? How can you sharpen your spiritual vision (and obedience) to ensure you don’t miss any future miracles? ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________
