History Sweden is a country that is full of rich history and culture. The rst signs of Swedish history began at the end of the last Ice Age. As the ice melted, nomadic people began descending into Sweden from Europe on Siberia. Many of these tribes settled in south Sweden. The Viking time period had a huge in uence of Sweden's history and culture. During this time, the Vikings of Sweden raided and traded throughout the area. They had expertly crafted boats that would be able to take them farther than before. Sweden got its name from the one of the main tribes in the area. The two main tribe were Swedes and Geats. It is understandable how it was determined that Sweden was named after the Swedes tribe. 4
5 Stockholm was a town in Sweden long before it was seamed the capital. It wasn’t until 1436 that it was named the capital however there are records of the town all the way back in 1252. The origan of Sweden’s ag in unknown, however there are records of the ag dating back to the 16th Century. The blue and gold are believed to come from the shield on the national coat of arms which depicts three gold crowns on a blue background and the gold cross.
Geography Sweden is in northern Europe in the Scandinavia region. Sweden is bordered by Norway on the west and Finland on the east. The Baltic Sea is also along the east side. There are over 100,000 lakes through out Sweden and 24,000 islands. Since Sweden is so far north many days in the summer only have 4 hours of twilight. During the winter however, the days are short and the night are long. You can also experience the aurora borealis during the spring and fall. 6
Climate 7 Sweden is far north and some of it is considered to be in the Artic. The weather can be quite severe during the winter because of its location. There are many variations in the weather so it is broken into three regions. In central and southern Sweden the winter is short and cold. The summers, however, are similar to southern England. The days are much longer though. In northeast Sweden the winters are very severe. It gets more sever the further north you go. The summers are actually surprisingly warm. In far north Sweden the winters are also severe. Many of the elevated areas are cov- ered in snow year-round. The summers have days with no darkness at times.
Culture A big part of Swedish culture is to be kind and o er great hospitality to everyone. They often give thanks and nd it rude if you do not do the same in return. Swedes are often kind, calm, and quiet. They do not strive to be better than others in a way that they are more special. They are also extremely hard working but o er a get work life balance. They are great examples of etiquette and would be a wonderful host to anyone. For these reasons I think they would be amazing hosts or the Olympics. 8
Sweden’s Olympic History 9 Sweden competed in the rst Olympics in 1896 held in Athens, Greece. They hosted the summer Olympics in 1912 but have never hosted the winter games. Sweden currently hold the most medals won in the winter games with a total of 176 medals. For th summer games they have won a total of 503 medals.

Inspiration Colors For the logo, I wanted to bring in an element of the country that is hosting the event. Sweden is a beautiful country. Many of the events will be held at a beautiful location. One of those locations is Are mountain. This is the mountain that is represented logo. I then put the Olympic ring in front of the mountain to make them stand out. For the pictograms I wanted to have a simple but uni ed pictograms to represent di erent sports. The blue is the same color that is on Sweden’s national ag. 12

Pictogram For the pictograms I wanted to have a simple but uni ed pictograms to represent di erent sports. I wanted them to be easy to recognize and be versatile to be used in many areas through out designing. I ended up using them in the tickets and in signs to show the event that is being held. The blue is the same color that is on Sweden’s national ag. 14
15
Event Sign I wanted all of the signs to look very cohesive. I used the same logo throughout each sign as well as the gradient mountains that is in all of the designs. I created signs that advertised the Olympics and then also signs that would be used to show what event was happening in that current location. 16
17
Tickets I wanted the tickets to t in with the rest of designs that I created. I used the same gradient mountain as all the designs. I did use the solid blue logo this time. I liked how it was more monochrome. The tickets utilize the pictograms to show what event they are for. 08 February Start Time: 14:30 Figure Skating Tele2 Arena Stockholm Stockholm • 2022 Stoc2k0h2ol2m Block: 5 Row : 20 Seat: 72 Stoc 022 09 February kholm • 2 Start Time: 12:00 Stoc2k0h2ol2m 18 Snowboarding Åre Resort Jämtland Block: 5 Row : 20 Seat: 72
Medals 19 The medals were the most challenging to create. I used a silhouette of the mountain that is at Åre Resort with the logo on top. I wanted to create some more depth. In an arch over the mountain reads “XXIV Olympic Winter Games Stockholm 2022”.
