8-Bit Aleworks Rebrand 8-Bit Aleworks is a local brewery in Avondale, AZ. I created this rebrand design that pays homage to its retro gaming roots while giving it a fresh, modern look. The new logo features a classic arcade game console with bold, sans-serif typography in a vibrant color palette. The packaging uses a similar aesthetic, with simple, geometric shapes and a mix of bright and muted colors, creating a cohesive visual identity across all products. Overall, the rebrand design successfully captures the spirit of 8-Bit Aleworks’ unique blend of nostalgia and innovation in the craft beer industry.

Old Logo The original logo idea does make sense for New Logo the business. The 8-Bit style brings in the name and the video game theme and the hop brings in the brewery aspect. However, the logo looks outdated and does not stand out. When the logo is shown at a smaller size it becomes hard to read or recognize. I decided to go with the theme of the brewery in a different way. I decided to focus on the video game theme and created the logo around an arcade game console. This made an easier-to-read logo and fixed many of the problems the original logo had.

Colors #4D4D4 With the video game theme, it was easy to RGB 77, 77, 77 be able to choose bright, vibrant colors. I CYMK 65.4, 58.02, 56.82, chose bright green, bright blue, dark blue, and dark gray to help the dynamic design #12527B stand out. I wanted to make sure that to RGB 16, 82, 124 colors would be easy to see which is why CYMK 96.19, 68.68, 29.81, 12.36 a chose saturated colors.  #29ADC9 RGB 41, 173, 201 CYMK 72.04, 11.07, 16.88, 0 #ABD037 RGB 171, 208, 55 CYMK 38.32, 0, 99.37, 0 Typography For the font choice, I chose Good Times Heavy for the heading font to continue with the 8-Bit and video game theme. This font works well with the geometrical shape of the logo since it is a geometric heavy font. I chose Nimbus Sans Bold and Light to compliment the heading type with its simple sans serif typeface.

Chip Kidd Booklet For this project, I was tasked to design an informational booklet about an iconic graphic designer. I decided to feature Chip Kidd. I find his work incredible and inspiring. I created a dynamic design that included bold geometric typgraphy and incorporated a bit of his personality through a graphic of his iconic glasses.

Colors Throughout all of my research, I noticed Typography the color red comes up in his designs often. I decided to choose the colors red and black to pay tribute to his design style. This helped in creating a dynamic design that stands out. With my typography choice, I decided on the bold, geometric typeface of Video Bold. I wanted to choose a type that would pair nicely with the geometric shape of his glasses but in a slightly contrasting way having the round glasses and the sharp angles of the typeface. For the subheading and body typeface, I decided on the simple sans serif of New Hero Medium and Regular for an easily readable experience and to not add any tension to the layout.

Suicide Awareness Triptych These triptych posters have an important meaning to me. Mental illness is something that is not talked about enough. Especially in an impactful way. I created these posters to create suicide awareness in an impactful and important way. I have struggled with depression my entire life. I also lost my brother to suicide when I was young. This has impacted my entire life.

Linocuts For the overall look of this piece, I wanted it to be bold and stand out. I knew that the main component of the pill bottle, noose, and gun needed to stand out the most to have the intense feeling of the topic felt. Through this, I decided to carve and print linocuts for this piece.  I decided to represent three different ways a person The second way I wanted to represen could commit suicide with each triptych. The first someone might commit suicide is a n way I decided to represent this is through an choice was personal to me since it is overdose of pills.  brother took his life.

nt a way The last way I wanted to represent a way someone noose. This might commit suicide is through a gun. This is a way s how my that many people choose to take their life. A gun is also very harsh and eye-catching in the triptych.

The Progress In my original concept, I wanted to include images of flowers. That did not have the same impact that I was wanting. I quicking switched them out for a variety of flowers that I created and added a printed texture. The bill bottle, noose, and firearm were linocuts that I carved, printed, and scanned to include in this piece. I wanted them to have a printed texture and a physical feel to each piece.

Typography I started with a typewriter font at the beginning to go along with the linocuts. I soon realized that it needed to be more personal than that. I went through multiple handwritten fonts. None of them felt right. It needed to be enough more personal. I created the main typeface out of examples of my late brother’s handwriting. I chose Futura Condenced ExtraBold and Futura PT Book to fit in with the new Suicide Awareness logo in the bottom right corner.

Winter Olympics Design For this project, I was tasked to choose a country to host the Winter Olympics and design all of the assets for the winter games. I chose Sweden as my country since they surprisingly have never hosted the Winter Olympics.

Colors I did not want to have the colors be Typography overwhelming. I decided to go with a dark blue and a white that is not a pure white. With this color choice I was able to utilize gradients throughout my designs. Through my research for this project, I often found the typography style was geometric with lower crossbars. I decided to use Galette Bold for the primary typeface. For the subheadings and body, I chose Gill Sans Nova to complement the art deco feel of Galette Bold.

Personal Brand Designing a brand for yourself is a very daunting task. I went into the design process with an open mind and a determination to put myself into the design.

Colors I chose a beautiful dark blue color for Typography my personal branding. Dark blue is a relatively neutral color that can work in a variety of situations. It is a versatile color that will work well with other colors that are represented in my projects.  For my own personal style, I tend to lean toward an art deco influence. Through my typography decisions, I worked towards finding a typeface that fits with the art deco style of the final logo mark I chose. I decided you chose Reross Quadratic as the Heading font to fit with the design of the logo mark. I chose Ariana Pro Regular for the Subheading and Gill Sans Nova Book for the body to have a complimenting sans serif typeface.

Logo Progress The first logo of the three is a unique way to create a monogram with a lowercase b and r. The lines add a lot of movement but the crossing of the line does cause issues in smaller forms. The second logo idea includes a line concept of the first logo. The biggest problem with the logo is the way the arm of the R cross through the other lines. It is hard to read in smaller forms. The last logo is bold but it is not a very unique logo mark. While it does stand out it seemed too bold for me as a designer and does not fit well.

Save The Bees Donation Gift For this project, I created a donation gift for people that donated to Save The Bees. Save The Bees is a non-profit that works hard to help save the bee population from extinction.

Linocut

Colors I chose a bright, saturated yellow color Typography and black for this project to fit with the bee theme. I wanted the black to be able to stand out but not completely over power the yellow in the design. For the typography, I designed on  LiebeGerda Bold to add texture to the design and a handwritten feel. I paired that with Gill Sans to compliment the design and not add too much weight.
