PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE \"The arts are an essential element of education, just like reading, writing, and arithmetic... music, dance, painting, and theater are all keys that unlock profound human understanding and accomplishment.\" -William Bennett My dear Christites, It is a matter of great pleasure that Christ Junior College is back with XITE - Christites Innovative Talent Expo. An endeavour that provides students an opportunity to hone their skills and build insightful experiences. The times have been challenging with the pandemic and many losing their loved ones, my sincere gratitude and my heartfelt prayer that everything is well with all. Human nature has always learnt to adapt through circumstances and this was our cue to adapt, learn and evolve. The mode of organization was indeed unusual but the enthusiasm was held the same if not more. With extreme delight I take this platform to congratulate all the participants and co-ordinating students who did a stupendous job under our esteemed teacher body, marking a wonderful start to the new academic year. Staying true to our vision and mission we work towards contributing to one's holistic development and excellence. Rev. Fr. Sebastian Mathai Principal

The Art events in XITE 2021 curated an array of competitions that brought out the hidden artist in the students giving them a chance to skillfully showcase their creativity through contests like Explicon, Comic Whiz, Eskiza, Shutters Up and Minute Cassette. Participants indeed put on their thinking caps and let their creative juices flowing, exhibiting a plethora of talent .They portrayed great artfulness and displayed absolute mastery over each craft be it revolutionary conventional Canvas and brush to stylus and pad. They worked on a comic which is nothing but a synonym for sarcasm at it's best, sketching a breathtaking vision board with help of mere pencil, or capturing beautiful stories at photography and short film making. While participants danced to the beat we remained stuck to our seats. The melodies did not just reach our ears but made a place in our hearts. The display of drama created a world of delusion making us connect with the emotions of the character. With years of practice in various art forms the participants put up a great show and gave us this unforgettable experience with their submissions. Even through the online medium, the students did not miss out on the opportunity to showcase their art from. Extravaganza of Talent INNOVERSE I was playing outside with my friends when my mother called for me. I ran into her arms. “What do you want to be when you grow up?” she asked. “Mama I want to be a writer. I want the world to know the stories in my head.” I replied. “Listen to me carefully” she said, “This man will help you but you must listen to him. He will give you a better life after I'm gone.” She caressed my face as she said these words to me, “For every child, a calling. Never stop dreaming baby.” “Mama, where are you going? Why can’t I come along?” I asked her. I didn’t want to be left alone. “I am going to live with the stars. You will come to me when you’re older.” she said. I walked towards the man and shook his hand. He looked like my father when he was alive. The man patted me on my head and said, “I will take care of you and I will help you become a writer. Tell me some of the stories in your head.” I had a smile on my face. I narrated stories to him for hours as he took me to a room. It was a classroom. There were other kids there. The next day, he told me to tell them my stories too. “Heartbeat.” he said placing my hand on my chest. “Listen to your heartbeat. Try to breathe slowly and slow it down.” I nodded. That was the first time I had stage fright but I knew I was going to be okay. It became a daily thing, I used to come to class, I used to narrate a story I had worked on the previous day, then other children used to do other things they were good at like dance and sing and then Father (which is what I had started calling the older man) used to teach us different things. My favourite was mathematics; I was good at it and it made me feel smart. When Father started to teach us how to write, he gave me a notebook with a very colourful cover. “Write your stories in this notebook.” He said to me, “I will make sure everyone gets to read them.” I was so happy when he said this. I took the notebook, hugged him and skipped back home. I wanted to write as many stories of mine as I could remember. I wanted to fill the notebook as soon as possible. The smile I had on my face when the notebook had almost no empty pages left was one I can still remember. “Just one more story.” I remember telling myself. I sat with the notebook but I couldn’t think of any stories. I had written about everything. I had written about the people who lived in the stars and the people who lived on land, I had written about animals, trees, birds and my friends. I had even written about Father.
I ran to him and sobbed, “I don’t have any more stories in my head Father.” He patted my head like he did the day he walked me towards my classroom and away from Mama. “Write about yourself.” He said in a soothing voice. I wiped my tears, looked up at him and nodded. I took my pencil and started to write about me and Mama. This story wasn’t happy, I was crying while writing it. I didn’t want to make anyone else sad so the next day I just told Father that I didn’t have a story. He sat next me and asked what the matter was. I showed the story to him. As he read it, he changed emotions a lot. He smiled, then he had a tear in his eye and then he cried while smiling. I could not understand what he was thinking about. “Yes, the story is sad, some might even say its dark, but it is real.” He said to me, “When people read this, they will be able to feel your emotions like it is a story in their head.” I always liked making stories because I could make the characters do anything but that day I realised that if a write a story well enough, I can make the person listening to or reading the story feel anything too. I can change their mood, I can help them and I can make them smile. I wanted to write stories that will affect people in a good way; I wanted the stories to fill them with emotions. I gave my notebook to Father. “I shall get my author another one tomorrow.” He said and then gave a chocolate which I still consider as my first salary. I started writing in another notebook the next day and this time I was determined for other people to feel the stories in my head and not only to know them.
