Wilton Group Situated in the North-East of England, close to the river Tees, The former Tag Energy Solutions and EEW Offshore Structures (Britain) site was the first UK manufacturer of large diameter pipes for offshore wind foundations in Great Britain. In particular – the manufacturer of transition pieces for offshore wind turbines. Since the start of production in 2015, more than 200 transition pieces have been produced, including 56 Transition Pieces for Ørsted's Hornsea Project One. One of the last projects was the delivery of a further 30 Transition Pieces for the Hornsea Two offshore wind farm. Offshore wind turbines consist of three parts. Firstly, there is the monopile foundation, which is deeply seated in the sea bed. Then there is the transition piece, which sits on the monopile under the sea level and ends with a platform. The transition piece allows access to the tower and contains the electrical switchgear – this is the connection to the final piece: the turbine tower with the propeller blades. Transition pieces are needed in order to connect the towers of the offshore wind turbines with the respective monopile.
