FROME THE DESK OF THE PRINCIPAL I feel very proud to be associated with Billabong High International School and welcome you all to this temple of futuristic education. In this rapidly changing era, it has become very challenging to provide a well-balanced, relevant and modern educational framework to the learners. I’m glad that Billabong High International School understands this and hence, has come up with a cluster of best national and international academic curricula to suit the varied needs of the students. HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH The months of October and November were probably the most eventful months of the year for Billabong students. There were umpteen events held. Following are the highlights of November 2019 Gandhi Jayanti celebration 2nd October- Billabong High celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of the father of the nation ‘Mahatma Gandhi’ on 2nd october. On this occasion a special assembly was held where the students sang baapu’s favourite bhajans. The students performed a short skit on SWACHTA ABHIYAN and its significance in our daily life. The students enthusiastically participated in a drawing activity related to Mahatma Gandhi. Dusshera 4th October- A spectacular 'NRITYA NATIKA' was staged by the students in which they presented the scenes depicting banishment of Rama from Ayodhya followed by his victory over Ravana. It sends a message that in a battle of right and wrong, righteousness always prevails. This was followed by Garba Dance in which students and teachers participated with great enthusiasm. The Billabongers, attired in traditional dresses, added to the festive mood.This brought awareness among the students about the traditional customs while enjoying the event. Excursion Trip 3rd October- Traveling brings riches in one's life with new experiences, new learnings, seeing new places and making new friends. Travel is truly an education and to become richer at mind and heart, Billabong High International School took a group of young and enthusiastic children on an unforgettable trip to Paris; the city of rich culture, love and light. Through the beautiful streets of Paris, to the great heights of Eiffel tower, from the majestic palace of Versailles, to The Cruise on River Sienne and in the magical world of Disney characters Billabongers had the trip of their lives. The team came back with experience and knowledge about Parisian people, their language, their food, their amazing history which will remain embedded in their heads and hearts as strongly as it is in the history of mankind. Adolescence education program 15th October- The Adolescence Education Programme (AEP) is an important initiative that aims to empower younger people with accurate, age appropriate and culturally relevant information. It promotes healthy attitudes and develops skills to enable children to respond to real life situations in positive and responsible ways. Keeping this in mind BILLABONG HIGH INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL organized a workshop on AEP. Eminent Doctors of the city, Dr Jatin Dhirawani and Dr Richa Dhirawani conducted separate workshops for boys and girls of Grades 6 to 10.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH Fireless cooking Workshop 15th October- Food is life, cooking is fun. Combine the two and you are sure to discover that it is very easy to prepare a meal for oneself. To know all about cooking without a fire, young learners of Billabong High International School attended a workshop on no flame cooking. Students took a keen interest in the workshop ahead of the final competition held on 24th October 2019. Annual Concert 2019-2020- Annual Concert is certainly one of the most eagerly awaited events of the year for any school. It is an occasion to celebrate the achievements of the school, of the students and the teachers. Billabong High International School organized the Annual Concert on 22nd November 2019. The ADM (Assistant District Magistrate) Jabalpur graced the occasion as the chief guest. The District Magistrate (DM), Jabalpur was also present in the ceremony as a parent and a special guest. The function started with the lighting of the lamp by the honourable guests. The grand show started with students presenting beautiful Shiva Vandana to invoke lord Shiva. The theme of the concert was ‘SOUND OF MUSIC’ a historical movie which was released in 1965. Students stunned everyone with their brilliant enactment and dance performances. It was a brilliant execution of power packed performance and every child did their part to perfection. Lights of vivid colours and special sound effects took the whole show to a new height. The parents loved every single moment and applauded the performance of Billabongers. Students leaving their mark with outstanding performances in academics, sports and co-curricular activities were felicitated. The show ended with the Grand Finale performance. What a memorable performance it was! Our students danced like professionals and won everyone’s hearts. It was a very successful event which was well covered by both local print and electronic media. Special assembly on Diwali 24th October- The festival of lights came alive at Billabong High International School on 24th October when the whole School wore a festive look with Rangoli, Diyas and Lanterns adorning all corners of the school. During the morning assembly students presented a skit with a message of celebrating Diwali responsibly and with minimum environmental damage. Various Inter-House Competitions like Lantern Making, No-flame Cooking, Card Making and Diya Decoration were a part of the Diwali Celebration in School.

INTERHOUSE COMPETITIONS The Inter-House competitions organized were: 1. For grades 1-5, a quiz competition was conducted on October 11, 2019 Unity won the competition. On October 11, 2019 the students of grades 6-9 participated in the brochure designing competition in 2. which the Equality, Unity, Freedom and Peace houses stood 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th, respectively. The inter-house Football competition for grades 5-10 was organized on October 14, 2019 with Unity 3. house bagging the first position and Freedom house as second. The inter-house English Debate Competition was organized on October 18, 2019 for grades 8-10. Best 4. team was won by the Unity house, Best Speaker (For) was won by Manas Vegad (Unity house) and Best Speaker (Against) was won by Krishna Agarwal (Freedom house). On October 19, 2019 the students of grades 1-5 had an English Extempore competition in three groups. 5. Group A had participants from grade 1, Group B has participants from grades 2 and 3 and Group C had students from grades 4 and 5 participating. Unity house, Equality house and Freedom house securing the first position in the groups, respectively. On October 21, 2019 the finals of the lawn-tennis matches were organized. For grades 1-4, Peace 6. house and Unity house stood first for the categories of boys and girls, respectively. For grades 5-10, Unity house bagged the first position in both boys' and girls' categories. On October 21, 2019 the finals of the inter-house cricket competition was also conducted. The Unity 7. house won by 8 wickets and stood first, followed by the Freedom house. The inter-house Diwali Competitions were organized by the school on October 24, 2019. There were 8. various events held, Ÿ No – Flame cooking – Students had to present their culinary skills without using fire. The Peace house stood first. Ÿ Lantern Making – Beautiful lanterns were made by various students, exhibiting their creativity. In Group A (grades 5-6) and in Group B (grades 7-10) Freedom house stood first. Ÿ Diya Decoration – The younger kids got the opportunity to showcase their creativity by decorating diyas. The Freedom house, Equality house and Unity house stood first in Group A, B and C, respectively. Ÿ Card Making – The students made beautiful cards on the occasion of Diwali. Freedom house stood first in Group A and B, in Group C Peace house secured the first place. The students of yoga had their inter-house Yoga Competition on November 8, 2019 for grades 5-10, 9. Unity house stood first, Equality house stood second and third in the competition. For grades 1-4, Peace house secured the first place in the solo acts whereas Freedom house bagged the first place in the team acts.

INTERHOUSE COMPETITIONS

SPORTING ACTIVITY At Billabong High International School, we understand the importance of sports. We believe that if you train hard you won’t just be hard, but you’ll be hard to beat. To encourage our students to actively participate in the sporting activities of their choice, at Billabong High we offer several sports with trained and experienced coaches. Lawn Tennis: We strive to nurture India’s talent for tennis and take it to a whole new level, by offering the very best of our expertise and experience. The facilities we provide are as follows: Ÿ Progressive programs which are realistic and designed to help the students enjoy the game Ÿ Two lush green tennis courts Ÿ Qualified and experienced coaches.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH A QUICK GLIMPSE: FESTIVE OCTOBER AND SCINTILLATING NOVEMBER DUSSHERA CELEBRATION Friday, 4th Otober'19 On the auspicious occasion of the victory of good over evil, the children dressed up as Ram, Sita, Ravan. Lord Ram killed and defeated the demon Ravan hence an effigy of Ravan was lit up to explain the concept of Dussehra. GENERAL PHYSICIAN VISIT Friday, 11th Oct'19 Dr. Devika Vijian Jain, visited our Nursery class Children and enlightened them about following a healthy routine, healthy food habits, exercise and taking medicines etc.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH SENSE BOOTH DAY Saturday, 12th Oct'19 Senses are a gateway to knowledge, taking the children through a journey of activities making them aware of the different senses. VISIT TO A RECORDING STUDIO Wednesday, 16th Oct'19 Aiming to introduce the children to the functioning of a radio station, Kangaroo Kids organized a visit to 94.3 My FM Radio Station, to show them how actually a Radio Jockey does his work

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH MUSICAL PARADE Wednesday, 16th Oct'19 Musical Parade was a fun way of introducing sounds of different objects to the kids, The teachers used spoons, plates, tumblers to create a band and these little musicians thoroughly enjoyed the fun session. A HERMIT CRAB HOUSE Friday, 18th Oct'19 The children learnt about the special features of the Hermit crab and its habitat, amazing facts about crabs and the environment around them.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH BEAUTIFUL BIRDS Monday, 21st Oct'19 Children learnt about the different types of birds, their nests, feet and beaks, They also learnt about the grasping, perching and climbing feet through the birdie dance. MATH FUN DAY Tuesday, 22nd Oct'19 Math fun day was conducted as a part of PG curriculum wherein the prime focus was to instill basic maths concepts which included fun way of reinforcing numerals 1,2,3,4 through activities like sequencing beads, etc.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH WORLD OF OWLS Thursday, 31st Oct'19 Children learnt about the different types of owls and their habitats through a PPT Slide show and made an owl's nest as an art activity. TRADITIONAL PARTY Thursday, 24th Oct'19 As Kangaroo culture, Diwali was celebrated and kids accompanied their parents to indulge in festivities with hands on art activities and yummilicious food.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH HALLOWEEN CELEBRATION Thursday, 31st Oct'19 Children had some spooky fun in full Halloween spirit at the school. They dressed up and did an Art activity related to Halloween. LITTLE FISH DAY Tuesday, 12th nov'19 The Little fish day was conducted according to the theme of the month where the learners were introduced to marine life, their physical characteristics, habitat and the food they eat.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH CHILDREN'S DAY CELEBRATION Thursday, 14th Dec'19 On our 1st Prime Minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru Ji's birthday, a trip to candyland was organised for the children. In an endevour to make the day a memorable one for our children, Kangaroo Kids was turned into a candyland, which was full of sugary delights and a lots of fun rides. Keeping our spirited children happy was a lot of so much fun. To add to the fun all the children were given gifts that made the day even more memorable.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH SHAPE FUN DAY Monday, 18th Nov'19 Shape fun day had engaging activities which brought in the fun element along with learning basic shapes, square, triangle, circle. The activities included naming shapes, colouring and drawing shapes and making yummy fish shaped sandwiches using geometrical shapes. SLUMBER PARTY Tuesday, 19th Nov'19 Cuddling up with your favourite toy after brushing your teeth, changing into your nightwear, helped the children understand healthy night routine. Gazing at the stars, bedtime stories, added to the charm of going to bed on time. promoting Healthy Habits.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH EMERGENCY EMERGENCY Thursday, 21st Nov'19 A Special Day was organised where the day long activities planned in the curriculum helped children in understanding how to access emergency services, and how to give first aid during emergency situation. Children learnt inculcating life skills through hands on activities. They were taught how to react during an emergency and to handle the situation as they are too young and panick quickly, they got to know how to get out of emergency situations. ON THE AIRPLANE Friday, 22nd Nov'19 It was an exciting activity as kids had to dress up as airhostesses and pilots. They were told about different airlines and their working. Aviation sector is an upcoming profession which the children were told about and how it has the advantage of getting to visit and explore the world was discussed with the children.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH AUTOMOBILE DEALER Monday, 25th Nov'19 A field trip to help the children become aware about the buying and selling of cars and different parts of the cars and the availability of different models and colors of the vehicle was organised to improve their concept of transportation. UNDERWATER ADVENTURE DAY Tuesday, 26th Nov'19 Children came dressed as underwater creatures and they explored many things about marine animals and their life under the sea. Improving identification of marine animals and understanding the similarities and differences between various marine creatures and also got to know about their special features.
