My perspective on the world is informed by EDITIONS – VOLUME ONE deep observation, recording and reading people and places through the clarity of the lens; this approach informs my creative process as both a tool and a philosophy. This visual perception underpins my photographic voice, and the conceptualization and creative direction which are the foundation for each creative journey. The result is powerful content for clients that can be applied across multiple formats, communicating visual stories fuelled by my passion for narrative. VISUAL MARVELRY offers clients numerous ways of interacting with Agenda Brown’s creative approach to image making - from commissioning a striking portrait that will stand out on a page, to a creative campaign or STILL STORIES TM that will realise the full narrative power of the story clients have to tell. Viewing each of his protagonists on a cinematic scale (drawing out the heroism of each subject), Agenda brings a filmic approach to image making that can feel both epic and intimate. Like all the best film directors, Agenda is a consummate story teller, distilling the narrative into a single frame. EDITIONS by Agenda Brown is fuelled by a desire to share work created outside the commissioned imagery which Brown creates under the banner of his agency STUDIO MARVELRY. A creative storyteller, EDITIONS by Agenda Brown extends his passion for narrative into territories where he shares his inspiration drawn from the human and natural world. The series exists for art buyers, collectors and anyone that appreciates a personal approach to art. “The style of my imagery positions individuals in a larger context whilst preserving the intimate scale of their individual context and humanity. I see people as a rich matrix of personalities, as dynamic characters set within everyday urban scenery, but each with sensitive and extraordinary narratives,” says Agenda. This sensitivity makes him a great collaborator in capturing and distilling individual character; his focus is always empathetic as well as discerning, warm but objective, inquisitive but never intrusive, delivering a process where the images are the result of a wider transformation, not the only outcome. The Studio is open to collaborations across all the scale and aspects of the VISUAL MARVELRY approach. Featured image: Kimberley www.visualmarvelry.com [email protected] @studiomarvelry

HAND. - THE COLLECTION HAND. marks the launch of EDITIONS by Agenda Brown. The collection explores the natural gestures and angles that sitters find instinctively during the photographic sessions. In doing so, these gestures reveal intimate insight into character and self expression. Why HAND.? “I have had a lifelong connection and fascination for hands,” says Agenda, “Used for everything that we do in daily life, our hands can be the toughest things we possess whilst being used for the most delicate operations, their tactile sensitivity capable of detecting a single hair.” This balance of strength and sensitivity is a metaphor for human nature, Agenda believes. “There a universal truth in hands that expands on the idea of embodied narrative and communication that have been core to my practice.” Our hands often speak for us in an unselfconscious way, to join bits of conversation together, punctuate emotion, and add layers of expression that shortcut, emphasise and signpost. At the same time they are our only other formal tool for communication – linguistic (sign language, semaphore) and narrative (Indian mudras, Japanese Noh, shadow puppetry). Hands are also graphic, sculptural, totemic, resulting in almost zoomorphic expressions as the body takes on metaphoric qualities. “With portraits, I’ve always been interested in the shape a person occupies in the space you have given it, and HAND. extends that exploration.” “To see a hand at a scale so much greater than it is in reality, zooming in on something that more normally flashes past you in a split second in a conversation, asks you to examine it for a length of time you would never normally spend on it. There is a deeper looking, and for longer, that reveals so many layers in stillness.” Featured image: Kingsley

WHERE IT ALL STARTED Michelle arrived at the studio for a meeting. A new combination of LEICA camera and lens that I had wanted to explore for a while had just been delivered. We were talking, and as I was watching her speak, I observed Michelle make the gesture which is captured in this image. It was a transformative moment for me, similar to the transformations that many of my clients experience during the journey of our work together. It was a moment when my practice opened up in a different direction, and beliefs that I had held for a while coalesced around technology that would enable me to explore those ideas in images. I have had a lifelong connection with and fascination for hands. They are tough but also agile, they express character in a very unfiltered, unconscious way; in this they reveal so much about individual humanity. Engaging with human nature in a very deep way is a powerful inspiration for me, and this philosophy of close, detailed, slow looking expresses itself through the lens. Michelle’s hand, in all its graceful confident gesture, was the spark that lit the flame for EDITIONS, a new journey for my work. Featured image: Michelle Visit EDITIONS at visualmarvelry.com
